GILLESPiE - WILSON On September 7th at 7.00 p.m. Susan Gayle Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Wilson, Culross Town- ship, proceeded down the aisle of the Teeswater United Church to meet her groom, Ronald Lloyd Gillespie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Gilles- pie, Kinloss Township. Rev. Arnold Proud, Teeswater, assisted by Rev., George Garratt, ,Lucknow, officiated at the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with white feathered mums, pink carnations and blue daisies surrounding lighted tapers in candelabra. Mrs. Sydney Smith, organ- ist, accompanied the soloist, Miss Sharon Sewers, who sang "Evergreen" before the ceremony, "The Wed- ding Song", during which the bride and groom present- ed flowers to their mothers, and "You Light Up My Life", during the signing of the register. The bride, given in mar- riage.by her father, chose a gown of polyestersilk trim- med with chantilly lace. The dress was .designed with a Queen Anne neckline, long full Bishop sleeves and cath- edral train. A Juliette lace headpiece held her cathedral veil trimmed with matching lace. The bride carried an arm bouquet of red silk roses and baby's .breath'. Matron of honour was Lori Bushell, of New Hamburg and bridesmaids were Cathy Gillespie, of London and Jeannette Fair, of Kitchener. They wore powder blue flr.a, length gowns with matching capes and carried baskets of silk pink and blue carnations with white daisies, trimmed with white streamers knotted with forget-me-nots. Their gowns were completed with matching sprays of flowers in their hair. John Bushell, of New Hamburg, was the best man and ushers were George Hal- denby of Sarnia and .Ron Wilson of Kincardine. All wore powder blue tuxedos with boutonnieres to match the bridesmaids bouquets. The groom wore a match- ing powder blue jacket, 'a red rose boutonniere, dark blue trousers and a vest. The bride's mother chose a grown of beige floral chiffon with a corsage of coral roses. The groom's mother wore a light blue polyester gown with a pink rose corsage. The reception followed at the : Teeswater Community Centre with music provided by. "Drumlin". The newly- weds spent their honeymoon at Niagara Falls and are now residing at R. R. # 1 Holyrood. Paper Wheat held over ."PAPER WHEAT", the blockbuster show from the Saskatoon, Saskat- chewan's 25th Street House Theatre, comes to Blyth .Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening, October 24 at 8 p.m. An extra performance of Paper Wheat has been added for Thursday, October 25 at 8 p.m. Reservations cah be made by catling the box office at 523-9300 Like the Blyth Summer Festival Theatre, the 25th Street House Theatre creates and performs original plays about the region and people it serves. Premiered in the West, PAPER WHEAT has had an outstanding reception in all the Communities where it has been per- formed. A recent article in the Canadian Weekend. Magazine talked about its success not only in smaller centres, but in Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver. A . tour highlight has been the performance at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. PAPER WHEAT promises to be an evening of old-style oratory, humor, sentiment, drama and stepdancing. Bill Prokachuk, a Western Canadian fiddle cham- pion, will provide live fiddle music.. It's a story of hope, determination, courage and the discovery that isolation and helplessness .can be overcome by human co-operation. The early attempts of far- mers to market their own grain, the formation of\ the Wheat Pool, the growth of the Co- operative movement, and the continuing battle of a modern farm family to make ends meet, are just some of the highlights. Learnnew stitches ST. HELENS 4-11 The second 4-H meeting of the St. Helens Needle-0- Needlers was held in the St. Helens Hall. President, Suzanne Kirk- land, opened the meeting. The standard colour wheel was explained to club mem- bers by Marian Raynard and examples were given. Leaders, Mrs. Luba Weber and Mrs. Norma Raynard, demonstrated and discussed the Bargelio and Continental stitches. Entries in area fall fairs of a 4-H display were discus- sed. Members completed work on their stitches. Nifty Needlers BY SHARON ALTON The fifth meeting of the Trinity Nifty Needlers was held October 10. Michele Humphrey, president; chair- ed the meeting. The girls divided into junior and senior groups. The junior group did the blocking of the coasters and Mrs. Ritchie helped them. The seniors did the blocking of .their pillows and Miss Hackett assisted. Continental Curies BY LORI GINGRICH , The third meeting of the Holyrood Continental Cuties was held October 4 at the home of Barb Gingrich. Lea -Anne Haldenby read the minutes of the second meeting. Marlene Murray moved that they be adopted as read and Lori Gingrich seconded it. Mrs, Gingrich explained the two stitches, Bargelo and Cross stitch. Everyone tried their hand at it. While members worked, Mrs. Gin- grich talked about free choice projects for senior members. The fourth meeting of the Continental Cuties was held at the home of Barb Gingrich on October 11. Lea -Anne Haldenby read the minutes of the previous meeting. Joy Ackert handed out several types of canvass and explained the different kinds. Senior members could use these samples in their files. Punch `n' Pullers BY ELIZABETH WILKINS The third meeting of the Punch 'n' Pullers was held on October 13 at the home of Elizabeth Wilkins. The meeting was opened by . president, Gayle Mac- Kenzie. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Char- lene Elphick. har-leneElphick. Sheila Osborne use the different stitches in pictures and taught • the "scotch" stitch to the group. Mrs. Ackert then spoke about graphing an enlarge- ment and taught the "cash- mere" stitch. The brick stitch' was also taught during this meeting. Mrs. Gingrich read several sections on needlepoint hist- ory while the girls worked on their needlepoint. Thrifty Threaders BY DIANE VAN OSCH The fifth meeting of the Kingsbridge Thrifty Thread- ers was held at Barb Van- Diepenbeek's on Wednes- day, October 10. President Debbie Drennan called the roll call and every- one showed their work. The members learned the overcast stitch and the bind- ing stitch.
