,Former Langside area bride married 40 years.

Mr. •and Mrs. Clarence
Stokes celebrated:their 40th
wedding anniversary on Sun-
day at the United Church in
Gorrie. Open house was held
in the afternoon and evening
with the dinner at five
o'clock. A three tier wedding
Cake, candles and Bowl's
decorated the tables. A deli-
.ious dinner was served,
Sixteen dinner guests were
present • who attended the
wedding forty years ago, The
couple received many lovely
gifts. Guests were present
from Oshawa, Ingersoll,
Thamesford, Wingham, Bel -
grave, Lucknow, Teeswater,
Langside and other points.
Mrs. Stokes is the former
Bertha Richardson, daughter
of Mrs. May Richardson and
the late Walter Richardson.
They farmed on the corner
farm on the sixth. concession
of Culross at the Kinloss
boundary. Clarence and. Ber-
tl,whow live at Ingersoll but
, spent quite a few years near
Wingham and .Gorrie. Their
•daughter, Elizabeth, Mr; and
Mrs, John Brown and grand-
son. Wayne nowlive in
Gorrie.
Mr. and. Mrs. Clifford
Young and William •were
dinner guests Thanksgiving
evening with Mr, and Mrs.
• Len Coughlin and family,
The Whitechurch Young
Peoples' Society held their
meeting Sunday evening in
the basement of the Presby-
lerian Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Springer
and family visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Young and family.

Sympathy of the commun-
ity is extended to relatives of
Henry Kragt of British Col-
umbia who was killed in a
construction accident last
Wednesday. Henry was the
oldest son of Mr. and Mrs.
Henk Kragt who farmed in
this district for a number of
years on the farm now owned
by Mr, and Mrs. Bob Mann.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim 'Young
and family attended the 25th
wedding anniversary dance
and smorgasbord lunch held
for Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Johnson' in Kincardine on
Saturday evening. •

izens' card party held on
Thursday evening ,was a
success with a good Attend-
- ance. After playing cards,
lunch- was served and high
and low prizes presented to
the winners.
Kim Coughlin attended a
birthday party for' Susan
Miller on the occasion of her
eighth birthday on October 2.
Fifteen little girls were invit-
ed to Susan's home after
school that day and all had a
real nice time.

Senior boys soccer item
won 3 - • 1 against St Jos-
eph's, Clinton. Ken Van
Osch scored two goals and
Shawn Durnin scored one.

Zone Champions and are
going on to the System Final
on October 20. The .senior
and junior • girls were also
successful in winning their
soccer games in the Zone
Finals and are the Zone
Charapions. Good luck to
those tliiee teams from our
school. The junior boys lost
their game 2 - 0.
On Wednesday, October
10, Playtime began its pro-
gram for the season. About
20 children attended and
enjoyed the morning activit-
ies.
The photographer was, at
the school on Wednesday
also, and took individual and
Class pictures and the pre-
schoolers, , who wished to,
had their pictures taken also.
The Health Nurses wereat
the seller,' on Wednesday to
supervize the brushing of the
students' teeth.
Community School.groups
are going strong as fall and
winter activities • begin. Al-
ready there are Girl Guides,
• Brownies, Ladies' Volleyball,
Macrame and Ceramics,
• Weight °Watchers, Pre-
school Playtime, Kintail Lad-
ies Ball Team, and Kings-
bridge Youth Club activities.
In the planning stage are
croeheting, and
men's recreation nights.
Cross-country skiing, gard-
ening, and farming work-
shops are courses considered,
for the new year. If enough
people are interested in
learning or brushing up on
English grammar, spoken or
written, a course may ' be
Started in the new year. Call
or write the Co-ordinator at
St. Joseph's School.
A vollinteer is needed to
write this colunan. Please

and able to do this for the
next two weeks or month.

This weekend saw quite a
variety of weather. Saturday
was fair until the rain started
late in the afternoon., Sunday
was wet and cold.. On Mon-
day morning we had snow.
On Sunday three -rainbows
were seen. Orie in the morn-
ing and two in the early
evening. There is no doubt
tAis is fall weather.
