The Geddes family
have met annually for
over 50 years, beginning
with. the descendants of
John Geddes and then
with the family of James
H. Geddes added and
finally the descendants of
Robert Geddes of
Teeswater joined the
group.
In 1979, three
descendants .of the
William Geddes who went
to Western Canada in
1880, also joined the
group for the day. They
were Boyce Gaddes of
Victoria and Mr. and
Mrs. Wes Jacobson of
Lethbridge, Atla.. Boyce's
grandfather had changed
the spelling of his name
while at College.
The 1979 Reunion was
held at Purple Grove
Community Centre on
Aug. 26. Much time was
spent meeting new
relatives and renewing
old friendships. Doug
Lamont and Sam Geddes
conducted sports. A gift
was given to Essie
Geddes and henry Arnold
who were the two oldest
members present. Lunch
arrangements were in
charge of Jean
McPherson and Della
Geddes.
Following, a delicious.
picnic supper, a short
program of business was
conducted by . ` Elson
Arnold and Gladys
Arnold. It was decided to
hold the Reunion in the
same location on the
fourth Sunday of August
again next year.

Mr. Westhaver expressed
_ his, thanks and appreciation
for support and co-operation
from the various organiza-
tions of the church, and
especially their executive
members. He expressed the
regret felt by Mrs. West -
haver and himself on leaving
after, only two years, but felt
they could not turn down the
opportunityto move to a
larger charge.
Attention was drawn to a
beautiful tapestry depicting
"The Nativity Scene"; which
has been donated to the
Dungannon Chutch by Mrs.
Ross McNee, . and hung on
file wall behind the choir. It
was given to Mrs. McNee 'by
a member of the ,family who
purchased it in Egypt some
years ago.
At the conclusion of the
service Mr. Lorne Hasty,
clerk of the session,. and Mr.
K. K. Dawson, came to the
front and asked 'Mrs. West -
haver to come up to be with
Mr. Westhaver. Mr. Hasty
read an address to them and
Mr. 'Dawson presented them
with an envelope on behalf of
the congregation. Mr. West -
haver .thanked those present
sincerely and again expres-
sed regret at leaving their
friends \in Dungannon. Very
best wishes are extended to
the Westhavers in their _new
charge.
Mr. George Cowan has.
been appointed lay minister
for this charge and will take
up his' duties next Sunday,
September 2 , with regular
services. He will be moving
into the manse soon. Pres-
bytery will appoint a super-
visory minister to attend the
sacraments such as wed-
dings and baptisms. Mr.
Cowan is not a complete
stranger as he taught school
in Dungannon at one time.
We bid a welcome to him and
his family and hope 'his stay
in Dungannon will be mutu-
ally rewarding.
SPORTS
In soccer on Tuesday,
August 14, Lucknow defeat-
ed Colborne 1 -0 at Colborne
in a make-up game, On
Thursday, August 23 at
u know, Colborne and
L ow played to a 2.2 tie.
league standings:
-- Du gannon 7 wins, 2 losses
an 1 tie for 15 points;
Lucknow, 4., ,5 and 1, for 9
points; Colborne, 3; 5 and 2,
for .8 points; Kingsbridge, 3,
5 and 2, for 8 points. Total
goals decided 3rd place
finish.
SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Brookside School was
homeground for the Dun-
gannon. team and the site of
the first League Tournament,
Saturday, August 25.
The first game,. got under-
way at 17 `a.m. •and saw
Colborne bomb Dungannon 6
- 0. Scoring for Colborne
were Monica .Etzler 1, , Brian
Dam 1, Jeff Stoll 2, Terry
Bean 2.. The shut out was
earned by Chris Starky.
In the second. game Luck-
now,.austedKingsbridge 4 -
1. Scorers for Lucknow were
Chris Irwin 1, . Mark Londry.
1, and Wayne Phillip's 2.
Kingsbridge's first .loss•
was only .a temporary set
back as they came up and
nicked Dungannon 2 1 for
the "B",championship and a
well-earned trophy.. Scoring.
for .Kingsbridge was Brent
Van ' Osch. ' Paul ' ' Jerome
tallied for Dungannon.
In the "A" 'championship
game Lucknow and Colborne
battled for 55 minutes with-
out scoring, then on a pen-
alty shot with just5 minutes
left, Terry Bean scored,
giving Colborne a 1 - 0 lead
and the gaine.�
After the "A" game the
trophies were presented by
tournament -organizer,
Stephen Park. Team captain,
Brent Van Osch, received the
"B" trophy on behalf of .his
Kingsbridge team mates.
Chris Starky and Terry Bean
represented the "A" champs
to- receive the trophy for
Colborne.
Monica Etzler was voted
most valuable player and
received a . soccer ball.
Lynn Murray was voted
most sportsmanlike player
and received a soccer ball.
A ball raffle was held and
won by Judy Godfrey. Ron
Olson won a ball for naming
the league for next season.
The league will be known as..
the Inter -County House-
league (Soccer). •
Apicnic supper was enjoy-
ed by those who stayed. It is
hoped that everyone enjoyed
themselves this season play-
ing soccer.

observed in memory of
Fred Geddes and Eileen
Geddes who had passed
away during the last
