The Lucknow Sentinel, 1979-08-22, Page 10Page 10—Lacimow Sentinel, Wednesday, August 22, 1979 wed in gingham The joyous, strains of the wedding march rang through St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Wingham, as Wen- dy Isobel England went down the aisle to meet her groom, Richard James Sallows, in a 5 p.m.. ceremony July 21. The bride is the daughter of Donald and Audrey Eng- land of Lucknow and the groom is the son of Mrs. Shirley Sallows of Wingham. Given in marriage by her :parents, the bride wore an elegant gown in Alencon lace. It had a sweetheart neckline and three tiers of lace down the front of the dress held at the back with a long chapel train edged all around with matching lace. Her headdress was a match- ing capelet with a long cath- edral veil. Her bouquet was fan -shap- ed, with pastel yellow roses, white tiger lilies, baby's breath and ivy and laces matching the dress. She also wore a necklace and_opal ear- rings borrowed from a friend, Mrs. Kathy Walker of Stratford; and carried a handkerchief belonging to her paternal grandmother. Her attendants, matron of honor Debbie Brenzil of Wingham and bridesmaids. Nancy and • Cathy England, sisters of the bride, Rose- anne Sallows, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Dianne England of British Columbia, the bride's sister-in-law, wore gowns of pastel yellow jersey accented with match- ing chiffon and carried open white parasols with ' pastel yellow roses and white dais- ies inside. The flower girl, Miss Bran- di Lynn• Russel of Toronto, a niece of the bride, wore a whiteeyelet, lace gown with short puff sleeves and a yel- low ribbon around the waist. She carried a small white lace parasol closed with pastel yellow roses and white daisies flowing out. The gr wore a choco- late biewh thxedo with tails anda boutonniere of .two yellow roses.. The best man, Jamie Stapleton of Wing - ham, ing-ham,,and '. ushers,: David Thompson, Paul Skinn and Paul England, brother' • of the bride, all of Wingham, and Terry Sallows of Toronto, brother .of. the groom, all wore beige tuxedos with dark brown lapels and single ' yellow roses as boutonnieres. The bride's mother wore a mint green floral chiffon. • Harvest theme for meeting Chalmers W.M.S. held their meeting on Wednes- day, August 15 at the home of Mrs. Peter de Boer. Mrs. Bill Evans opened the meeting with a poem. Mrs. Don Ross was organist. The scripture was read by Mrs. Wesley Tiffin who also gave the meditation and closed with prayer. Mrs. Dave Moffat gave a reading, Woods in August. God's Nearness, was read by Mrs.. Vic Emerson. Mrs. Alan,Fal- coner gave a reading. The It's FUN! Bible stories Refreshments • Crafits Recreation Songs topic, The Great Sin, was given by Mrs. Bill Evans. Mrs. Evans gave ' a second topic, Why 1 Go To Church. The offering was received and dedicated by, Mrs. John de Boer. Mrs. Alan Falconer read the reading, 0 God Forgive Me. Mrs. Bill Purdon read the. minutes of the last meeting. The roll call was answered by 10 with a verse with the word, Harvest. Arrange- ments were made for the Thankoffering service in Oct - i r SALLOWS - ENGLAND gown with matching jacket, white accessories and a cor- sage of white gardenias. The groom's mother wore an off-white floral silk pleated jersey gown, with matching chiffon jacket, brown acces- sories and a corsage of rust, burnt orange and white car- nations. The service was conducted. by Rev. Robert Armstrong. Inaddition to the wedding march, organist and soloist Stephen Sallows, brother of the groom, played and sang "The Wedding Song", as the bride pinned . on the groom's boutonniere before the ceremony and "The "Wonder of • You", during the signing of the register. The church was decorated withcandelabra of yellow roses, white tiger lilies and ivy and had white bows on the front pews. For her wedding trip, to Niagara Falls and , other points in Ontario the bride wore a taupe sundress with rope belt and matching jack- et and brown accessories and a corsage of burnt orange and off-white carnations.
