At the fiscal year-end, 9,742 businesses in the province had $410,495,000 in financing from the bank. FBDB which provides' fin- ancial assistance: to . small enterprises when financing is. not reasonably available from other sources, author- ized 12,271 loans totailing $665,593,000 to businesses, across Canada during the. year. The bank now has $1;6 billion outstanding in finan• cing to. over 35,000 custom- ers. In the annual report., pres• - ident Guy Lavigueur . said that FBDB financing .last year assisted in the start-up of some .2000 new Canadian . enterprises .and generated. direct employment for.. 20,000. Currently, about 350,0130 Canadians are em- ptoy.ed byFBDB customers. About 44 per cent of the loans made by FBDB are for amounts. of 325,000 or less. and nearly .three-quarters of them are for $50,000 or less..
