Saturday, June 23, 1979,
saw the running of the Kins7
men's annual Summerfest
Soapbox Derby. The race,
held on Wheeler Street, was
divided into four categories
with first place winners re-
ceiving a trophy and five
dollar cask prize: Second and
third place winners received
cash, prizes. '
In fife under nine category,
winners were: 1st place, Tim
Becker, age 9; 2nd place,
Brian Redmond, age 7. and '
3rd place, Joe Curran, age 7,
In the race for those ten,
•
years old, the winners. were:
Fred Flanagan lst; Andy
Grazier, 2nd; and Brad Pries:
tapi 3rd. Also entered was
Jeff Burgsma, who received
the consolation prize..
In the eleven year old
class, first place was taken
by the only girl participating,
Melissa Becker. Second
place went to Chris Collyer,
• and Jim, Jurjens took third:
Consolation prize winner was
Darren McKim who took the
Only spill of the race but'was
not seriously injured.
There were only two en-
. trants in the twelve year old
class with John ,Curran tak-
ing first over Mark Londry.

Green and Parent had Graham Elec-
tric Bed 5 .•5 in the seventh inning of
their game on Saturday afternoon
but they allowed three more runs
and the graham Electric team ,
advanced to the consolation. finals on
Stmday against Reitzel's Rentals.
The. Rentals however, soundly de-
feated Graham Electric 11 - 3 to t•
ake
the consolation trophy. Lucknow
IntermediMes were defeated by the
Wingham Intermediates .who took
home the Lucknow Kinsmen Ball
Tournament trophy. The tournament
was played Thursday through Sun-
day in conjunction with the animal
Kin Summerfest in Lucknow last
weekend.
