Sunshine sisters
identified at meeting
The Kinloss-Kairshea
Women's Institute held their
Sunshine Sister's meeting in
the W.I. hall on Thursday,
June 21. The president, Mrs.
Allan MacDougall, welcom-
ed everyone to the meeting.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious
hot beef sandwich supper
prepared by the directors,

WMS meeting
The June meeting of Ash-
field W.M.S. was held in
Ripley at the home of Mrs.
Hugh Nugent. Mrs. Ewan
MacLean opened the meet-
ing with a reading followed
by prayer. Meditation was
"How does your garden
grow" with scripture taken
from Solomon.
Mrs. Emile MacLennan
gave a reading, "Springtime
tells us much about God".
Mrs. Richard West gave a
reading about "Famous Gar-
dens".
Roll call, a flower from the
Bible. was answered by 10
ladies. Offertory prayer was
given by Mrs. Emile Mac-
Lennan.
Mrs. Ewan MacLean con-
ducted a most interesting
summary of the study book
on chapter four, "The Hum-
an Dimension".
Mrs. Gordon Finlayson
conducted the business.
Mrs. Ewan MacLean com-
mented on the Presbyterial
held in Brussels in . May.
Mrs. MacLean had closing
prayer followed by lunch,
arid a social time fdllowed.
Mrs. Allan MacDougall and
Mrs. Leonard Maclnnes.
Mrs. Jack Needham ' and
Mrs. Don Bell led in a lively
sing song. Prizes were given
out for the, lucky chair, cup
and plate.
Mrs. Leonard Maclnnes
read the scripture. The sec-
retary -treasurer, Mrs. Lloyd
MacDougall; read the minut-
es and correspondence.
Information was given on a
short course on "Freezing"
in 'the Lucknow United
Church, June 28, and a
course on "Canning" in the
Ripley Legion, July 3. Mrs.
Hank Hartemink volunteered

Jamie Hackett, president,
opened the second annual
meeting ., of the Dungannon
Beef and Dairy Club. Sec-
retary, Heather Ann Staple-
ton read the minutes of the'
last meeting. Making of rope
halters, led by Chester Hack-
ett and 4-H leader, . John
Clark, commenced'. After a
good start on the halters, the
club entered the barn of Glen
McNeil and practised again
for the annual judging com-
petition (date .changed to
July 4th) by judging four
dairy cows. • They then did
quizes on and recorded
marksfor their monthly
homework papers and ad-
journed for lunch.

Bruce Presbyterial United
Church Women sponsored a
Retreat with the .theme "In-
spirtation through Music and
Meditation" on 'June 1lth at
Silver Lake Camp east of
Kinloss, ,Approximately 100
,ladies from the locals within
the. Presbyterial enjoyed the
activities, some of which
were held outdoors.
Registration was in charge
of Mrs. John Patterson and
Mrs. Delbert Curtis. Devo-
tional . books and pamphlets
were .available for sale . at
tables convened by Litera-
ture and Communication
Secretary, Mrs:. Clarence
. McClenaghan, and her as-
sistants, Mrs. Alex Heard
and Mrs. Frank Baxter.
Mrs. Burton Hodgins and
her comhnittee served. cook-
ies and coffee during the
day. Assisting were Mrs. Bill
Campbell, Mrs. Harold Ban-
nerman, Mrs. Elmer Court-
ney, Mrs. John Kelly, and
Mrs. Bob Putman.
Mrs. Walter Morley, Area
#1 .Vice President, chaired
the event. She welcomed
everyone and offered prayer.

Tipper, extended greetings
and brought announcements.
The, morning presentation
was in charge of --Mrs.
Leonard Domm, Area #3 Vice
President, who led in periods
of meditation and Musing
using readings and scriptur-
es.
Mrs. Keith Domm conduc-

ed an inspirational "program
of music made up of group
singing, vocal .solos, duets
and trios, as well as instru-
mental duets. Taking part
were Mrs. Marion Derbeck-
er, Mrs. Percy Pletsch, Mrs.
Keith Domm, and Misses
Joan Pletsch, Deb Pletsch,
Audrey Domm, and Judy.
Watson. Mrs. Art Domm was
pianist for the day, accom-
panied onthe flute, clarinet
and guitar, by Misses Joan
and Deb 'Pletsch.
Following the lunch break -
the offering was received by
Mrs. John Patterson and
Mrs. Delbert Curtis, and
dedicated by the President,
Mrs. Tupper.
Mrs. Gordon Cayley urged •
those present to participate
in the C.G.I.T. organization.
Mrs. D. A. Brydon gave
the meditation on the theme,
and some thoughts on the
discussion topics. Mrs. Ruth
Warder assisted in reading
Owns and scriptures. The
gathering divided into small
discussion groups led by the
Mesdames C. E. Tupper,
John Price, W. Pollock,
Clarence McClenaghan, Bur-
ton Hodgins, Gerald Paul,
Robert Young, and George
Jackson. ''
A meaningful communion,
service was conducted by Dr.
D, A. Brydon. Mrs. Morley,
Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Patter-
son acted as elders: Dr.
Brydon pronounced -the ben-
ediction, bringing the' retreat •
to a c1t se.
as one of the leaders of the
fall 4-H course, "Needle-
point", with the second
leader to be appointed later.
On July 25th Kairshea will
send quitters to the Bruce
County Museum as we are
,hostesses for that day and
some are to quilt as the craft
being shown that day is
quilting. Mrs. Evan Keith
reported on the bus trip to be
held July 19, to the Elmira
area.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall
gave a report of the 75th
anniversary of Ripley W.I.
celebration. Mrs. Allan Mac-
Dougall was the other mem-
ber invited to attends, They
anjoyed a lovely luncheon
and were very •pleased to
hear Mrs. Pauline McGibbon
speak.
Mrs. Leonard Clarke con-
ducted a game involving
prizes which was much en-
joyed. • The roll call -was
answered by each member,
telling who her, Sunshine
Sister was and giving her a
gift. Mrs. Roy Finlayson
handed out next year's Sun-
shine Sisters name toeach
member. Mrs. Evan Keith
gave the courtesies which
brought a delightful meeting
to a close.
