Groups •,1 and 2 of St.
Andrews U.C,W. met
together in the church for
the May meeting.
Christine Robertson
presided for group 2. A
minutes silence was
observed in memory of
two deceased members
Mrs. Hazel Ramsay and
Mrs. Nora Frederiksen.
Hymn,. "The Church's
. one Foundation" was
sung. Portions of
scripture were read by
Erma MacDonald and
Mary Culbert. Lenore
Hooey read a tribute to
Mothers -"Sacrifice
brings gladness".
Marilyn Johnston sang
sweetly "I've a mansion
over the hilltop, ac-
companied by Violet
MacKenzie.
A interesting tape was
presented by Margaret
Blue on "Human Rights"
by Rev. Bruce McLeod.
Dr, McLeodspoke of
violence in cities on
subway stations, store
windows broken in,
people terrified and down
graded because of being
of other races; 15 percent
Of the population of
Toronto are of different
races. We do not like this
nor, do we want to be
interfered with. Who. do
we let into our country?
Who keep out? We should
be one family in God.
Churches should be
friendly and out going to
receive other races of
people. Margaret Blue
stated that 31 people were
made citizens of Canada
lately in this area. '
The Hymn "Glorious
things of Thee are
Spoken" was sung.
Anne McCosh
presented the program
for Group 1 Sandra
Forrester gave a splendid
talk on "child -abuse"
chosen because this is the
year of the child. She said
if we hear children crying
too much or are
suspicious or see bruises
or (narks on a child, it is
our duty to investigate
and report these cases.
Also teachers never
should down grade
children as they can, be
abused in this way.
Parents should take time
to listen to their children.
Margaret Blue read a
poem "Jesus Loves me"
from "The Year of the
Child."
Anna McTavish gave
the usual courtesy
remarks.
Members then went to
their own groups for the
business meeting. Money
jars are to be passed by
Group 1.
The rollcall was a
"Child -hood memory".
Lunch was served by Lila
Tranter and Dorothy
Holborn for Group 1 and

Barnard and . Christine
