Several ladiesof the Pur- ple Grove Community served a delicious dinner last Wed- nesday to the members of the Ripley Lions Club at , the community centre. The annual meeting of the Community Centre board was held last Wednesday. Visitors on the weekend with Garry and Laura Farrell were Brian Elliott and friend of Elmvale. Mr, and Mrs. Morley Scott visited on - Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Don Doupe and family at Millar - ton. The Scotts also attended the Shelton-Farrish wedding at Lucknow on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs.:Don Robert- sonvisited during, the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard MacDonald and Miss Margaret Robertson of Lucknow. Friends at Purple Grove are sorry to hear that Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beisel and boys are leaving our com- munity shortly. A hearty welcome is extended to Mr. and Mrs. John Rirnmelswan and girls who have moved into the former Victor Gaw- ley home. A good crowd attended the auction sale held on Monday for Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gawley. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrell on the weekend were Susan MacDonald and Janice Farrell of London. Kathy Farrell returned on Sunday from a week's holi- day in Acapulco. Garry and 'Laura Farrell,..:, Sarah and David visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Don McDonald and family of Kincardine Township. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrell visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hutton at Tiverton on Sun- day. The 100. acre farm has been con- - -- tintiously in the MacDougall family since Freda's grand - patents settled there in 1852. They purchased the farm from 'the crown in the first land sale held at Southamp- ton. This farm on lot 1, concession 2, Kinloss, has been bought by Mr. Edwin Middlebrook from the Mal - ton area. -.1 Area residents travelled by bus to Nashville, Tennessee on Easter weekend where. they attended the Opry Show at the new Grand Ole. Opry Hall, toured O.pryland, U.S.A. and were also privil- eged to sit in on a filmtaping of Mel Tillis. Those who went on the trip were Harold and Dorothy Errington, Lloyd and Doris Hodges., John and Linda MacDonald, Ross and Elaine . Errington, Bill and Elsie Hardy, Margaret B'riiidiey, Merle acid Marilyn Rhody• and Claude and Opal Dore. Mac MacInnes and Dick McCosh have returned home after touring ` Key West, Florida, part of Mexico, :, Texas, California,' Arizona, British Columbia and Alber- ta. They were . away six weeks. While there they saw the Cherry Blossom parade and the Smithsonian 'Institute.. On the way home they toured the Corning Glass Company at Corning, • New York. Mr. and Mrs. Con Hogan of Ashfield visited with their daughter, Fay of London and accompanied her to spend the weekend with relatives in Jackson, Michigan. Mrs. Oliver McCharles entered Victoria Hospital, London on Thursday: of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Glenn, Lucknow, returned home last week after spend- ing three .months in Florida.
