Potluck dinnerfor
meetin
The annual meeting of the
Lucknow Women's Institute
was held on Monday, April
9th. A pot luck dinner was
served with the executive as
hostesses,
President, Mrs. Mary
MacGillivray conducted the
business meeting. It was de-
cided to send a donation to
Brucelea Haven.
Mrs. Harvey Webster dis-
played her poster illustrating
"The Year of the Child".
Mrs.. George Whitby re-
ported on the District Dir-
ectors meeting in Belmore
which she attended.
Mrs. Bert Gammie, sec-
retary treasurer,' read the
minutes and gave thetreas-
urer's report. Twenty-seven
members answered the roll
call by the payment of fees.
The -report of the nominat---
ing committee was presented
by Mrs. Jack Collinson and
the officers for 1979-1980
who were installed by Mrs.
Armstrong Wilson are; past
president, Mrs. Armstrong
Wilson; president, Mrs.
' Mary MacGillivray; vice
UCS chooses Easter theme
The regular meeting of
Trinity U.C.W. was held at
the home of Mrs. Frank
Alton, on Thursday, April 12,
with an attendance of 20
members.
Mrs. Chester Hackett read
the scripture and Mrs. Blake
Alton read a poem, "The
Last Supper". Mrs. Alex
Hackett had a reading,
"Christ in Gethsemane":
Mrs. Alton read another part
poem, "Tell .The Disciples"
and Mrs. Chester. Hackett
gave the meditation on the
Easter theme.
The president, Mrs. Don-
ald Hackett, thanked the
hostess and then read a
poem; "Spring Crocuses"
and led in prayer., The roll
call was answered by each
member telling what she.
thought the value of the
U.C.W. was in the commun-
ity. Mrs. Ken Alton gave the
Mission .Study on "Discrim-
ination of Others in Can-
ada", with questions on the
freedomof speech, freedom
of the press and discrimina-
tion.
Speaks about work
in New Guinea
Pine River U.C.W. met in
the church on •April 10th.
Mrs. Jack Campbell presided
and welcomed everyone,
then read a poem. The roll
call was answered by 24
ladies • with "An Easter "
Mrs. Allan Farrell, pro-
gram convener, opened with
the poem, "Resurrection".
A trio by Mrs. Ernie Gibson,
Mrs.. Perrin Lowry and Mrs.
Bob Courtney was enjoyed.

The April meeting of the
St. Augustine Parish was
held in thechurch vestry on
April110 with 11. members
and one guest present.
Fr. Ed Dentinger oened
the meeting . with prayer.
Mrs. Mary Boyle presided
over the meeting. Mrs. Mary
Kinahan read the minutes of
the March meeting: Mrs.
Gus Redmond read the cor-
respondence. Mrs. Nancy
Stapleton reported on the
treasurer's report and took
the roll call.. Mrs. Emma
Franken gave a Spiritual
reading and Fr. Dentinger
commented.
Mrs. Ella Redmond, re-
sponsible for the election of
the new executive took
charge of the meeting. She
reported after the vote, the
new executive are: 'presid-
ent, ' Mrs.- Emma Franken;
1st vice, Mrs. Joe Hickey;
2nd vice, Mrs. Bili Kinahan,
3rd. vice, Mrs. Neil Staple-
ton; recording sec., M'rs.
Raymond Boyle; correspond-
ing sec., Mrs. Gus Redmond;
treasurer, Mrs. John Beyers-
• Bergen. -
Fr. Dentinger thanked the
members for the co-opera-
tion they showed towards the
last executive and asked for
the help and prayers for the
new executive.
Mrs. Mary Boyle also
thanked everyone- for their
help.

Mrs: Glen read scrip-
ture readings. Prayer. was
offered by Mrs. Elmer Smelt-
zer.
The speaker, Mrs. Marian
Lawrence, .of Dungannon,
showed slides, displayed art-
icles and gave a most inter-
esting talk`on the work being
done by her son, Marshall,
Who isdoing linguistic work
in Papua, New Guinea. Mrs.
Delbert Wilson expressed
appreciation to Mrs. Law-
rence for her inspiring pres-
entation.
Mrs. Burton Hodgins, vice.
president for Area 4 brought
greetings. A bale of used
men's clothing is being,gath
ered for the Fred . Victor
Mission. The collection. was
received by Mrs: Georgia
Mitchell and dedicated.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Bill Scott, Mrs. Bob Court-
ney and Mrs. Ernie Gibson,
and a social • period. was
,enjoyed.

The Easter meeting of
St. Andrews UCW was
held in the church with
Christina • Robertson
presiding and welcoming
everyone. Annetta
Robinson read the Easter
story, and several
suitable hymns were
sung, with' Elaine Pollock
pianist for the evening.
A duet: "The Old
Rugged Cross" was sung
by Gayle Bell and Janice
Hodgins and was enjoyed
by everyone. Francis
Reed led in prayer, and
Annetta Robinson read
several Easter readings.
Margaret Blue in-
troduced the speaker,
Elizabeth Dickie from
Goderich.. She brought an
interesting message on
"What Easter means to
me."
Lois Pollock gave the
courtesy remarks, and
presented Mrs, Dickie
with a gift.
Lunch was served by
Doris Nicholson, Eilleen
Nesbitt, Irma McDonald
and Mabel Bernard.

Mrs. Charles Wilkins had
the Bible Study, and con-
ducted a Bible Quiz on Bible
Verses. Mrs. Reg Broome
reported that they will be
packing a bale on April 17,
anyone with clothing for it
can leave it, with her, Mrs.
Harvey Ritchie, or Mrs. Tim
Reurink.
Following the business
portion of the meeting, Mrs.
Warren Zinn led in, prayer. A
social hour was enjoyed by
all and .the committee in
charge served lunch.
