COLOURED INK
NATURE STUDY
In the Art 201 course, the
students have -been -experi-
menting with different paint-
ing media in their nature
studies. This unit began with
a study in tempera paints of a
small portion of a coloured
photograph or actual stuffed
bird, fish or crustacean. The
purpose of just analyzing a
small part of their animal
was two -fold: to observe that
colours have many nuances
and 'to develop a pictorial
structure based on the prin-
ciples of unity and repetition....
To end the painting unit,
Ow to dry'flowers
The delicate shades and
fascinating shapes of spring
and summer flowers can be
captured for winter arrange-
ments through the art of
drying plant materials.
You are invited to learn the
skills of this craft at a
demonstration to be held at
the Lucknow Branch, Bruce
County Public Library on
April '23rd.
The program, Which starts
at 2 p.m., is sponsored by the
library, the Royal Botanical
Gardens, the Georgian Bay
Regional Library System and
the Outreach Ontario pro-
gram of the Ministry of
Culture and Recreatiort.
Admission is free and the
program is open to everyone
except young children.
It is hoped that many of
those attending the program
on April 23rd will use their
new knowledge to preserve
flowers this spring and sum-
mer and will attend a second
program in the fall on the art
of arranging the dried mater-
ials.
