On Sunday, Mrs. Bill Purdon attended a relative shower for bride to be, Donna Dawson.. This community extends to. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGee and family of Wingham their sincere sympathy in the pas- sing ' of his mother, Mrs. John James McGee, the for- mer Marjorie Gordon, on Sunday, April 8 in her 90th year at University Hospital, London. She was born at. Langside, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archie Gordon. She taught music at Whitechurch and played the organ in the Presbyterian Church for several years. the home of Mrs. Archie Purdon. Lori Ann Jamieson opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. The minutes were read by Janet Laidlaw, They put the Hat Exhibit together. The girls did some craft work and worked on the puzzle and on the match game. It was .decided to have a work meeting on April 23 at Mrs. Walter Elliott's home. The record books are to be in to leaders by Thursday. Last Tuesday the White- church children's Bible Club' and their leader, Mrs. Harv- ey Osborne, visited Pinecrest Nursing Home. hey put on a program of hymn singing, scripture verses. and Bible story. Thechildren exhibited - crafts they had made .. and decorated with- pictures and printed Bible verses with crayons. Mrs. Clarence Adams re- turned to her own home in the village • on Wednesday from Pinecrest Manor but then .had to return to Wing - ham. Mr. Harvey'Osborne tried to come home Friday evening from Knox College, Toronto but when he arrived at Orangeville he found the road blocked due to the storm from Orangeville to Arthur. He had to remain in Orangeville until Saturday. Stylette club The Whitechurch 4-H Styl-, ette Club, met on April 7 at "'Mrs. Muriel Thompson gave the topic, Stewardship, assisted byother members. She told of different ways U.C. budgets -money. 24 per. cent goes for World Outreach and Develop -Ment: Mrs. Thompson read a story of Dr. Burgess and hisconcern for immigrants who had been tortured in their own country, and their lasting` scars left by physical and mental stress.
