After the adoption of the minutes for the meetings of, March 5th and 26th, motions were passed to engage Med- way Civil Engineering to do the' survey on profile on the 4th concession west for, 51200.00 per mile and to accept the tender of Voisins Spraying Service of 45c per head to spray cattle for warble fly in the township. Hugh H. Lafay sales tax consultant, will review the township invoices for over- payment of retail sales tax and his fee will be 25 per cent of the net amount recovered. The annual grant of S100.00 to the Lucknow Agricultural Society was ap- proved. General accounts for $12,504.80 and highways for $7,321.04were passed for payment. OPEN TENDERS Tenders were opened at the special meeting on March 26th. Pollard Bros. tender for calcium chloride at $100.25 per flake ton was accepted as was Thomas W. King for dozer and scraper at $35.00 per hour; Reeves Construction was accepted for pit run gravel .at 39c for the first mile and 5c for each additional. 1/2 mile, and Joe Kerr Ltd. for crushed gravel - at $1.60 per cubic yard, stockpiling at $1.00 per cubic council contract • At the March 20 meeting tenders were opened for the 1979 road program. The following contracts were awarded subject to the approval of the M..T.C.: To crush and. deliver 32,.000 cu. yds. • 5/8'' gravel to Robert Farrish Construction, Listow- el at $1.44 per yd.; To crush and stockpile 2000 cu. yds. to R. Farrish Construction; at 95c per yd.; To load and haul 50,000 cu. yds. of granular'C pit run gravel to -- George Radford Construction at 38c for first mile and 10c per yd. for each additional mile; To supply and : apply liquid calcium chloride . to Pollard Bros. at, $103.50 per flake ton equivalent; To supply and apply 6000 gals. of road oil to Can. Am. Services at 35.3 cents per gallon; To supply and apply 600 tons of H.L.4 hot mix asphalt to Cottrill Fuels, Kincardine at $17.67 per ton. A grant of $100.00 each was made to the Lucknow Agriculture Society and Dun- gannon Agriculture Society for 1979. The clerk was instructed to call tendersfor collecting garbagefrom cottages in 1979. A real winter storm blew up Thursday evening and continued all day Friday with, high winds and drifting snow cancelling school buses and molt activities for that day. Hydro was off in many com- munities and in some places was not back on until Satur- day. We were fortunate here with hydro on in most places. Hydro was not restored until five o'clock Saturday morning. The Whitechurch Young People held their regular meeting at the manse on Sunday evening and Sunday School commenced for the summer months at the Pres- byterian Church Sunday yard and on ratepayers lanes at 52.25 per cubic yard. Gerald Rhody was hired as drainage inspector and he is to provide his own transpor- tation. Building permit applica- tions were , approved for lean-to addition to an exist- ing barn for John Ackert and to John Meyer for a new house. A letter was sent to Health Minister Timbrell resolving that due to the .geographical proximity of Wingham and District Hospital to Kinloss Township residents and also that any further reduction in the number of beds at Wingham Hospital will jeop- ardize the economic feasabil- ity of ' operating Wingham and District Hospital that Kinloss Township Council supports the Wingham Hos- pital Board of Governors in their endeavours toretain the present funding for the hospital. Building permits issued for 1978 amounted to 5745,373 and permits to demolish buildings were $4,000 A breakdown of the figure is S301,400 for barns, barn. repairs . and silos; $53,473 for garages, repairs to houses and miscellaneous and $390,500 for new hous- ing.
