On Thursday, February 8, Give..1 • THE • HEART FUND Lucknow played. in Durham against Dundalk and lost 6 - 2. Scorers were Lynn Murray and Grant Murray. Assists went to Grant Murray, Steve Alton and Lynn Murray. Losing that game put Luck - now in the running for the Consolation trophy. Lucknow played their second game in Durham on Saturday at 11 a.m.' meeting Listowel and winning.7 1. The goals were scored by Todd Ritchie 3, Lynn Murray 2, Steve Alton and Ken VanOsch. Assists were gained by Todd Ritchie, Steve Alton, Lynn Murray, Brian De Groote and Jamie Bere 3. On Sunday Lucknow again travelled to Durham to play for the Consolation against Palmerston at 1 p.m. They lost to Palmerston 2 - 1 in overtime. Ken Van Osch scored the goal for Lucknow, assisted by Todd Ritchie. The winning goal for Palmer- ston was scored with 3 minutes and 10 seconds left of the ten minute "sudden death" overtime period. Lucknow Pee Wees start W.O.A.A. Double D playoffs on February 13 at Paisley. Second game is at Lucknow on Saturday at 4.30. All teams with the excep- tion of the Juveniles are play- ing against Paisley for the W.O,A.A. "DD',' trophy and winners of these series will then advance to the O.M. H.A. playdowns which ,start the first week in March. Smithsville or Wainfleet will probably provide the opposi- tion in the first series. Playoff arrangements for the W.O.A.A: Finals are scheduled for this week. Watch for posters and sup- port your local minor hockey teams. Bantams begin finals On 'Tuesday night Ripley came to Lucknow to play a game which had been cancel- led due to the weather. Lucknow won 9 to 1. Scoring for Lucknow were George Alton with 3, Lance Sanderson scored 2• and singles went to David Gib- son, Allan Eadie, Art Clarke, and David Pritchard. Glen Raynard and Lance Sanderson assisted on 2 while single assistswent to George Alton, Brian Taylor and Mike Humphrey. On Saturday Lucknow went to Walkerton to playan exhibition game with their "A" . team. The boys went down to a 6 to 0 defeat against a stronger team. They played well and looked better on the ice ,than the score indicated. On Wednesdaynight they start into Western Ontario. Championship finals against Paisley. The second game will be in Lucknow Thursday •night at 7.30. These boys have had a good record of only 3 losses all year but are not getting much fan support, Here is your chance td -support them and help them win Western Ontario and go on to "All Ontario". Lancers lose to Mourit Forst On Sunday, February 11 the Mount Forest Rams visited Lucknowand soundly defeated the Lancers 9 to`4. The Lancers scored the first two goals but, Mount Forest came back and tied the game at two each before the end of the first period. Scoring -for Lucknow in thee. first period wasCarl Stanley' from John . Hamilton and -,Mike Courtney. Ian Mont gomery got th,e second Lan- cer goal with an unassisted effort. For some reason the sec- ond period this year has been.. a real let down : for the.. Lancers.. and Sunday night was no different as Mount Forest scored; five goals to Lucknow's one whi h . was scored by .John H ii1teln, assisted 6y John MacKenzie. The Lancer's next home gariie' is against Wingham on February 18 at 7.30. This will be the Lancer's • last regular season game before the playoffs start, From the looks of things, it will likely be Mildmay that they meet in the first round. At 8.40 of the third, Rick set up Donnie McFarlan for his first big league goal. Then, on his last shift. of the game, Rick held the puck just long enough to send Brad Pries - tap in -alone. Brad made sure of it, with a hard shot to cap the game at a 4 - 0 shutout. On Saturday, we made -an attempt to play a snowed -out game against Ripley. Al- though both teams promised to playlike '`stars on ice", they couldn't radiate enough light to play during the power failure.
