Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nichol-
son visited on Wednesday
with 'Mr: and Mrs. Glen
Campbell and other friends
at the Royal Apartments at
Kincardine.
Miss Winnifred Percy re-
turned home from the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Don Bert-
rand, Marc, Rebecca and
Nathan at Simcoe. Brian
Percy also visited with the
Bertrands..
Word - •was received by
Misses Nellie and Margaret
Malcolm of Lucknow of the
sudden death of their friend
Miss Isabel Matheson. in her
garden at her home in
Victoria, B.C. Miss Mathe-
son was the daughter of the
late Rev.. Peter •and Mrs.
Matheson. He was minister
of the Presbyterian Church
here many years ago. Just
this past Christmas . Miss
Matheson and' her friend,
Miss Helen Malcolm, of Tor-
onto, were .holiday guests °1
with .the 'Misses Malcom at
Lucknow, and the word of
her death came as a great
shock. She was a retired
teacher.

The February meeting of
the Holyrood Women's Insti-
tute was held on Thursday
afternoon at ..the home sof
Miss Edna Boyle. Mrs. "Alex
Percy presided. Mrs. John
Scott read the minutes and
gave the financial statement,
A letter was . read from the
Provincial President and
thank you notes for Cheerio
boxes which were sent out to
.. sick and shutins at Christmas

This being the Year of the
Child, posters are to be made
with Mrs. Gerald Murray in.
charge, and ideas on this
project are to be brought to
the next meeting.

was stressed in this Year of
the Child and the Lucknow
Fall Fair list was received.
The Officer's Conference will
be held at Waterloo in May.
Mrs. Ross Cumming. and
Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller were.
judges for the Valentine
Contest with Mrs. John. Scott
having the best homemade
Valentine.
• Mrs. Orrie Gingrich re-
ported onthe new 4-H class
of which 14 girls will be
members. '
Miss Edna Boyle and Mrs.
Frank Maulden were in
charge of the program and
the guest speaker, Mrs. Ross
Cumming of Ripley, Presid-
ent of the Bruce ,South
District, was welcomed. She
first spoke on "the Year of
the Child" and then based
her thoughts on a line from
the Mary Stewart Collect,
"Let us take time for all
things". Mrs. Frank Maul-
den thanked Mrs. Cumming
and presented' her with a
gift.
Mrs. William MacPherson
favoured with a pleasing
piano number. Mrs: Frank
Maulden gave the motto,
"Courtesy is like the air in a
tire, eases many. .a jolt;.
saves inany a sore spot".
A reading,' "A legend of
Valentine", was given by
Mrs. Harold Smith. A lucky
heart draw was won by Mrs.
Alex Percy: A reading, "My
firs Valentine", was given
by Mrs. Lorne Eadie.
All took part in a "White"
guessing contest, and also
guessing.. the ..number of
small words in St. Valentine.
Mrs. Alex Percy gave the
courtesy remarks. Refresh-
ments were served and .a
social time followed.
