January 17, 1979 PinetreeCes1nets BY WILMA CLARKE December was a ,, busy month at Pinecrest Manor; The Lucknow .G,I.T. girls And their leaders painted the windows for the Christmas season at the end of Novem- ber and first of December. They are a fine group of ' artists and the windows looked lovely. The Lucknow • Brownies sang on December 2, and the residents really enjoyed hav ing them. The Roman Catholics 'had communion on December 5, and units 4 and 5 of Lucknow United Church came to .en- tertain that evening. Kinlough Pentecostal Young People's • Crusaders: came the . -next,:, evening to sing. Bruce County. Junior •Far- merswere-to come Decent:, ber 10, but because of the storm, only two girls from Ieeswater made it. They , sang and- the home 'was pleased to have them. On December 1*, Rev, Kaufman held communion for the Protestants. Edith Webster played the piano and Eunice Dunsmuir sang. In the afternoon the Lucknow Christian Reformed Church held their monthly bingo. The Lucknow Kinettes vis- .ited on Tuesday .,night and sang carols • and gave each resident a jar of candies.. Grades 1, 2 and 3 of Lucknow Central Public walked to Pinecrest on Dec- enilier 14 and presented their Nativity Scene from their Christmas concert, Tie residents enjoyed see-' ri• ing them. fn costume and ("Wel all, that is what Christ mas is about. Brookside Public sent a busload of their younger. children tosing the following day. How wonderful to see the elderly people smile, as they listen to the voices of children: On December 17 the Man- or held their Christmas Tea. They were delighted with the friends and relatives who came to visit. The weather was unpredictable in the morning, but turned out not too bad in the afternoon. A team of horses with caro'11ers on .a wagon visited in the afternoon. The Kinlough Pentecostal Church came on ._December 21 to sing. They ,are enjoyed, when they come each month. Allan Miller andhis band came 'to play on, December 27. Ronnie Rock of Ripley sang and played his guitar and John Hartwick's grand - daughter also sang. Allan's , young daughter sang too. They were cute 'little girls and sang so well. It was a very enjoyable day, . Those going out over the Christmas season to visit were G. Steele, M. McNee, A. Cerson, L. I'rwin, E. Haney, S. Hunter, L. • Wams- ley, Belle MacKinnon, Birdie ' Button, J. Maclntyre,, and J. Hartwick. Those celebrating birth- days in December were Edith Griffith, December 1; Lloyd. Irwin, December 19; Annie Jewitt, December 29; and, celebrating their 90th birth- days were Michael Cum- mins, December 10 and Effie Culbert, December 25. Many groups and people brought fruit, candies and 'plants to the Nursing Home over the Christmas season ' and the residents really appreciate it. It featured a•, mandarin nec:k.l.ine, rounded in, : f vont. -Of a bodice, an empire waist and long,. straight. sleeves: A cape fell from the shoulders to the back of the.waist and into a long flowing skirt: Appliques- trimmed'the front of. the bodice and sleeves. The train fell all around ..into a chapel istyle. .The bride's headdress was a caplet trimmed' with lace and pearls to,. match the gown. It held in place.. a one. tier fingertip silk\ illusion veil trimmed all around the edges with matching lace. The bride carried a bouquet of yellow roses. Matron' of ' honor was Mrs. Barb Snowden•of St. Helens, sister of the bride, She wore a gown in copper quiana with a;- I ' round neckline and a bow at the front. 'It featured tiny smocking across the shoulders' ' and waistline with an overlay covering, long full sleeves • with AN MRS.. SERE elastic 'lien& to match, the smocking and a flowing. skirt, She carried a bouquet of yellow and , white daisies and baby's breath.' Bride'smaids were Mrs. Annette. Bere ` and Miss Valerie Wilson,'friends of the bride, both of Goderich. Their dresses and 'f.lowers were' the • same as the matron of honor's. ° Kimberly Snowden of St. -.Helens, ,niece of the • bride, was 'flowergirl.. Her dress wase similar to the bridesmaids' dresses only white in color and she carried • the same hpUque.>L in..a miniature -- size. . T �` Groomsman -was- Gerald Bere Of Goderich, brother. of 'the groom.. Ushers were John Staribury, brother-in-law- ' .of the:. groom and Jamie Bere, ' brother' of the groom, . both. of Dungannon. The • groom and his attendants wore beige three-piece tuxedos with white • carnation' boutonnieres. ' . Following .the 'wedding ce•remeny;. a dinner:. was., held at Saltford Valley Hall:. A reception and dance were held in the evening with music by . Star Trex. The bride's mother 14 greeted guests wearing a rose silk ' gown with a gathered cape accented in the back with a cowl and a white orchid cor- sage. .. . The . groom's mother wore an ivory polyester gown with a lace top and a variegated stole.
