THURSDAY NIGHT
MIXED LEAGUE
If you heard loud cheering
coming from the bowling alley,
last Thursday it was Lorna
Brown and Betty Belanger cheer-
ing because they won turkeys
for hidden scores. Some of the
quieter hidden score winners
were Barry Fryfogle, Perry
Holmes, Hilda Gordon, and
Murray Gerrie.
Audrey Swatridge rolled a
665 triple for a turkey and Mari-
lyn Ritchie got a turkey for her
279 single. Fred Templeman
captured the men's high triple
and a turkey with a '738 and
Paul Rintoul won a turkey for
his 330 single. Hap Swatridge
won the lucky draw and Mar-
lene Leedham won a prize for
being a good sport. Marg Mof-
fat won the lucky draw for a
turkey. Many thanks to Hilda
Brown for filling in as a spare
at the last minute.
Here are the standings:
Hilda's Humbugs 59; Marg's
Mints 58; Marilyn's Maple Buds
56; Gail's Gum Drops 53;
Laura's Secord's 47; Pat's Smar-
ties 41,
Lucknow
downs Squirts
Wingham Squirts took a 4-2
defeat Friday night at the
hands of Lucknow in the one
game played of the three
scheduled for the evening,
Peter Hilbert, one of the
most impressive players on the
squad, scored both Wingham
goals while Ackert and Court-
ney shared the Lucknow tallies.
Wiligham led 1-0 on Hil-
bert's first goal at 13:30 un-
assisted. At 7:00 of the second
frame Ackert tied the score,
Farrish assisting, Wingham
managed to contain Lucknow
while MacKay sat out a board-
ing infraction.
Things broke wide open in
the third as Lucknow jumped
to a 2-1 lead at :30, Courtney
scoring from Ackert. The same
combination clicked at 7:25
and Ackert scored from Court-
ney at 8:10 to make it 4-1.
After Gray of Wingham sat
off for tripping at 11:20 Peter
Hilbert clicked for his second
at 14:50, MacKay assisting.
In goal Paul Fish and Terry
Anger had lots of work and
did a good job keeping Luck-
now from gaining an even
larger lead,
