Mr. Deacon no longer sleeps in the home but lost all his furniture, clothing and some of his tools used in his trade as a carpenter. Some of the tools were at the home of John Jamie- son, the first farm to the west, where Mr. Deacon lives. Mr. Deacon had left the Jamieson home about ten o'clock Wednesday morning and gone to the house where he lit a fire as he did every day. He left the house at two o'clock and at that time everything seemed in order. One of the first on .the scene was a neighbour, Henry Patti- son, who surmised Fred was not in the house as his car was not parked outside. From past experience, Mr. Pattison knew it was better to keep the doors closed until firemen arrived. He mentioned that the fire bri- gade was very quick in respond- ing to the alarm. Fire had spread throughout the entire house but was con- trolled by firemen in all but the attic area. Persistent efforts failed to extinguish flames in this part of the building and finally a hole was cut through the roof. During the fire, Dave Pen- ner, was struck by a piece of equipment and received a nasty cut on the cheek which was left unattended until after the fire had been brought under control. Vehicle accidents range in damage from $50 to $1500 FIREMEN FORCE a high pressure nozzle through a hole chopped in the roof of the home of Fred Deacon on the tenth of East Wawanosh on Wednesday. The fire caused almost complete destruction of the house and contents.
