Cookie auction
at W.1. meeting
GORRIE—, Mrs, Alex. Gra-
ham opened her borne on Wed-
nesday evening for the Novem-
ber meeting of the Gorrie Wo-
men's Institute. Highlight of
the evening was a demonstra-
tion on making shortbread by
Mrs, Tom MeBwen, This was
quite interesting and the short-
bread was sampled later when
lunch was served.
The vice-president, Mrs.
Alex, Graham presided, Mrs.
Clarence Sparling, secretary-
treasurer, read the minutes.
The Christmas meeting will be
held on December t; at the
home of Mrs. Norman Wade.
Each member is asked to rake
a Christmas card suitable for
shut-in, and a decorated box
for sending to shut-ins. There
will be an exchange of gifts.
Roll call was a use :or lem-
ons and grapefruit. The cotta
was -taken by Mrs. Robert
saner, "The homemakers
standard is only what she de-
mands.'. Some of the things
necessary is a good substantial
layer of old-fashioned skill;
an interest in things outside
the home, not forgetting some
humour,.
Plans were made for cater-
ing to the Howlett Lions' farm-
ers' night on Monday, NOVQ1n-

The ladies agreed to cater
again on November 24th -
The names of essay winners
from Grades 7 and 8 were
given. This was the Auxiliary's
centennial project and the
pupils and their parents were
invited as guests at the Remem-
brance dinner in McIntosh
Church. First prize was won by
Sharon Wright of Belmore;
second, Terry Bridge, R. R.1
Gorrie and Ricky Clarke of
Wroxeter.
Plans were made to hold a
Christmas party for children on
December 9 in the Legion Hall.
The mystery prize was donated
by Mrs. Earl Moore and won by
Mrs. Jack Clarke.

Bitten by stray cat
GORRIE-- Susanne Strong,
four-year-old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Strong, was
bitten by a stray cat. She was
walking up the street when the
car came rubbing up against
her and as she bent over it bit
her in the face.
She is taking rabies shots
and the cat has not been found.

Combine sausage, onion, bread crumbs, egg and Season-
ings. P'orni into ten balls. Bake in shallow pan In mod-
erate oven (850b P..) 25 Mins, Remove from oven. Drain
Off eat. Drain peach halves and stud with 4-6 cloves.
Place a tentage ball into each peach half, Add syrup and
return to oven for 7,U minutes, basting with Syrup.
