WRQXETER,Anniversary ser-
vice was held Sunday morning
in the United Church with Rev.
Ure Stewart as guest speaker,
He has been an ordained minis-
ter for sixty years and delivered
a powerful message to the con-
gregation. Rev. Ronald Sween-
ey led the service.
Mrs, Murray Donaldson at
the piano, accompanied the or-
ganist, Mrs. A, Edwin Martin.
Miss Jean Newton sang the solo,
"He Smiled on Me". The choir
anthems were "Open My Eyes",
and "Hymn of Praise". The
first brought memories of an
early church to Rev. Stewart,
The speaker's theme was,
"Is the church satisfactory to
the Head?" He questioned
whether the church was fulfill-
ing its mission. Has the church
the power it once had, and
turning the world upside down
in thought? Are members real-

WROXETER—Wanda Dianne,
infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald McMichael, was baptiz-
ed in the United Church by Rev.
Ronald Sweeney on September
1'i,
The junior choir sang the
Welsh air, "My God and My
All" in two-part harmony. The
' junior and intermediate choirs
were in the choir loft.
Mr. Sweeney's address was
based on Romans 12;2, "And be
not conformed to this world:..".
He said Paul warned not to be
fashioned to the whims of the
world. Many hearts are spirit-
ually dead because of living up
to the passions of the world.
Devotion to material things and
neglect of spiritual life must
not be conformed to.
Many seek a lukewarm situ-
ation. "What a church Wrox-
eter United would be if every-
one would do his part," the
minister said. :Our commit-
ment should cover all phases of
life. Our lives should make an
impact on those around us," he
told his congregation.

ly doing their duty?
The church is not in need of
money, organization, equip-
ment, decorations; but it does
need an inspiration to minister
unto a congregation. Paul says
"that ye might be filled with
the fulness of God." God is
dead to many because they
never go to church except for
weddings, funerals and anni-
versaries. People need exper-
ience and contact with God.
Where there is God, there is no
need.
"What we now have, has
been the sacrifice of our fore-
fathers, " Mr. Stewart said.
