GORRIE--A well-known resi-
dent of Howick Township, An-
son Galbraith, 75, of R.R. 1
Gorrie, passed away in Listowel
Memorial Hospital on Sunday
morning, following a short ill-
ness.
Mr. Galbraith was Howick
Township's road superintendent
for 17 years, and resided on
Concession 10 Howick Town-
ship. He was the son of the late
Mr. Edward Galbraith and his
wife, the former Emma Scott,
and was born January 14, 1892
in Howick Township.
He was a member of Gorrie
United Church.
His wife, the former Sarah
Elizabeth Newton, whom he
married March 18, 1913, pre-
deceased him in 1952.
Surviving are two sons, Ger-
ald, Gorrie R.R. 1 and Bradley,
Wingham R. R. 3; two daughters,
Mrs. Wm. (Arlene) Martin of
Drayton and Mrs. Harvey (Dor-
is) Mulligan, Listowel.'
There are three brothers,
George of Wroxeter, Lawrence
of Harriston, John of Swan Lake,
Man.; one sister, Mrs. Emma
Williamson, Fordwich and 10
grandchildren. One son New-
ton predeceased him in 1919.
Funeral service was held
Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Moir
funeral home, Gorrie, conduct-
ed by Rev. Ronald M. Sweeney
of Gorrie United Church.
Pallbearers were Ivan Has-
kins, Harold Robinson, Robert
Gibson, Frank King, John Fer-
guson, Melville Allan, Flower
bearers were Malcolm Newton,
.Thomas Newton, Kenneth Gal-
braith, Cecil Galbraith, New-
ton Galbraith and Bruce Wil-
liamson.
Burial was in Wroxeter
Cemetery.
Mrs. Jacob Willits
dies at 81 years
GORRIE-Mrs. Margaret Jane
Willits, 81, of Gorrie, passed
away on Sunday in Wingham
and District Hospital.
Mrs. Willits was born in
Howick Township on November
13, 1885, the daughter of the
late Mr. John Abraham and his
wife, the former Mary Jane
Saunders. She moved to Gorrie
May 1, 1955, and was a mem-
ber of Gorrie United Church.
Her husband, Jacob Willits,
predeceased her in 1951.
Surviving are two sons, Clif-
ford of Simcoe and Leslie of
Port Coquitlam, B.C. ; one
daughter, Mrs. George (Helen)
Richardson of Toronto; one
brother, Thomas Abraham,
Turnberry Township; seven
grandchildren and one great
grandchild. A daughter, Mrs.
Harold (Viola) Burke predeceas-
ed her Mar. 14, 1967.
The body rested at the Moir
funeral home, Gorrie, where
services were conducted On
Tueiday by Rev. Ronald N.
Sweeney of Gorrie United
Church. The pallbearers were
Ken Underwood, Barris Stewart,
William Latronicii, Glidstorie

father of ten
dies suddenly
John Stanley Cook of R. R. 1
Belgrave, East Wawanosh farm-
er, died suddenly at his home
on Tuesday, September 12, at
the age of 39 years.
Mr. Cook was born on Con-
cession 6, East Wawanosh Town-
ship, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan-
ley Cook. He attended S. S.
No. 13 East Wavianosh.
He married Kathleen Mason
of Blyth on June 25, 1951. He
was a member of Belgrave Unit-
ed Church and the Orange Lodge.
Mr. Cook is survived by his
wife and ten children, all at
home. They are George 15,
Brenda 14, Connie 12, Dianne
10, Billy 9, Stephen 8, Mary
Anne 7, Sammy 6, Susan 2 and
Peter, 22 months.
He is also survived by his
parents and one sister, Mrs.,
Bruce (Gwen) Marshall of Lan-
don.
Funeral service was held at
the Tasker funeral home in
Blyth on Thursday with inter-
ment in Brandon Cemetery,
Eielgrave. Mr. John Robertsof-
ficiated.
Pallbearers were Alan Dun-
bar, Jack Taylor. Eldon Cook,
Bill Buchanan, Ray White and
Charlie Cook. The flower
bearers were Albert, tinier,

attended a miscellaneous show-,
er held in honor of Miss Norma
Haldenby of Holyrood, at the
home of Mrs. Charles O'Malley
on Saturday evening. Mrs. O'-
Malley and Mrs. T. P. O'Mal-
ley were hostesses.
Contests were conducted by
Mrs. Harry Helfenstein, after
which the bride-of-the-month
opened her gifts, assisted by her
sister, Brenda. Norma thanked
everyone and lunch was served
and a social time enjoyed. Nor-
ma's marriage to Michael O'-
Malley takes place on October
7th. And we hear that Michael,
too, was honored last week-end
at a stag hosted by Joe Kieffer
and attended by 30 friends and
neighbors.
Treated at
hospital
Miss Elizabeth Murdie, 86,
of Lucknow was injured when
she was struck by a car backing
out of a drive last Saturday.
She was treated in Wingham
and District Hospital for an in-
jured left knee and lacerated
left hand. She returned to her
home after treatment.
Mrs. Oscar Hetsler, 22, of
Lucknow fell from her husband's
car between Formosa and Tees-
water on Saturday and is a pa-
tient in Wingham and District
Hospital. She suffered a dis-
located right hand and punc-
ture wounds to the hand, lacer-
ated face and injured elbow.
Graeme McDonald, 36, of
Brussels, received treatment for
lacerations to the head and
face which he received in a
single car accident in Brussels
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Doig
leave for Athens
FORDWICH-Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Doig were in Toronto on
Wednesday of last week to see
their son and his wife leave
from Toronto International Air-
port for Athens, Greece.
Their first stop will be Cop-
enhagen, Denmark, where they
will go sight-seeing for two
days; then by plane to Switzer-
land for two more days and a
final plane trip will take them
to Athens on September 19.
Edward Doig is employed by
Northern Electric in the tele-
phone communications branch
of that company. They are
expanding their business by
selling complete telephone in-
stallation (equipment and sup-
ervision) to foreign countries
and Athens, capital city of
Greece, is one of these con-
tracts. Mr. Doig is one of the
project supervisors of the con-
tract which is expected to re-
quire two years for completion.

His theme was "Giants and
Grasshoppers", and he used as
his text passages from Numbers,
chapter 13. The choir sang two
anthems, "Tell It That the
World May Know" and "In the
Strength of the Lord". Mrs.
BELMORE CLUB
BELMORE-The project be-
ing taken is "Cotton Accessor-
ies for the Bedroom". Each 4-
H member may make a bed-
spread or two smaller accessor-
ies and a dresser scarf.
The first meeting of the,
yet un-named Belmore club
was held at the home of the
leader, Mrs. W. Johann. The
assistant leader is Mrs. E. Jack-
son.
The ten members elected
the following executive: Presi-
dent, Evelyn Dickson; vice-
president, Marlene Inglis; sec-
retary-treasurer, Karen Kieffer;
press reporter, Jackie Goldrich.
Meeting procedure, record
books, and requirements of the
members were discussed.
A general question and an-
swer session brought about the
discussion of different bedroom
accessories, the types of colors,
and how to harmonize and
complement colors and color
schemes.
After several attempts, the
meeting closed with a song.
The next meeting will be Sep-
tember 25.

from the first meeting attended
by the congregation, with Miss

attend, Mrs., Harry Mulvey,
was in charge of the guest book.
Following the service, lunch
was served on the church lawn
when old friends chatted over a
cup of tea and relived some of
the former days at Belmore
United. Some members of a
former choir also got together
for a singsong of favorite
hymns.
Three former ministers were
present at the service -- Rev.

ENTERTAINED AT
DAVIDSON COTTAGE
Last Wednesday, twenty
friends and neighbors of Fred
Davidson spent the afternoon
and evening with him, at his
cottage at Bruce Beach.
It was an ideal day. Some
were treated to a boat ride by
Mr. Davidson, while others tried
their luck at horseshoes. Sup-
per was served outside.
Euchre was played in the eve-
ning and before returning home
the guests thanked Mr. David-
son for a very pleasant day.
