Grandmothers' meeting is
held by Whitechurch W.I.

Mrs. Bill Evans extended a spea
vial welcome to all the grand-
mothers who were present,

Mrs, Russel McGuire and ar-
rangements were made to eta
tend the Bruce County rally at
Ripley aad the convention at
Marirdale on October 2.6 and 27,
'&11 call was answered by 29
ladies giving the birthplace of
their grandmothers. Mrs. Geo.
Walker gave a reading, "Old
Lady". Mrs. Dave. Gibb read a
center real poem, " Our Pio-
neers'. The topic, the history
of Grainger Siding, was given
by Mrs. Wallace Conn.
Mrs. Garnet Farrier was pian-
ist for singing 'Old Folks at
Home" and "Annie Laurie".
Mrs, Farrier then gave the nut.-
rent events.
The ladies made plans for
the next meeting when guests
from the Bluevale and St. Hel-
ens branches will be invited.
Contests were held for the
grandmothers with Mrs. John-
ston Conn as leader, The first
contest was won by Mrs. Ezra
Scholtz. The prize for the
grandmother not wearing glass-
es was won by Mrs. Gibson Gil-
lespie after the tie was broken
between Mrs. Gillespie and Mrs,
Cecil Falconer, but Mrs. Fal-
coner won the contest for having
certain articles in her purse,
Mrs. Ed Walker won the
grandmother attending Expo
contest and Mrs. Lloyd Grasley
of Arthur won the contest for
baking her own bread. Mrs.
Robert Ross had the birthday
closest to December 25,
Mrs. Wallace Conn and Mrs.
Johnston Conn served lunch.

On Thutsday the wives of the
Anglican Clergy of the Arch-
deaconry of Saugeen, which
comprises the Deaneries of Hur-
on, Bruce and Grey, were
guests of Archdeacon T. D. and
Mrs. Ragg, at St, George'srec-
tory, Owen Sound.
Holy Communion was cele-
brated at 11 a, m, in St, Geor-
ge's Church. At noon, lunch-
eon tables were set for twenty,
at the rectory. Following the
luncheon, Robert Turnbull, Lon-
don florist, was present to dem-
onstrate chancel flower arrange-
ments for all occasions through-
out the year,
A social hour was spent, dur-
ing afternoon tea and supper was
served at 6 p.m.
Rev. and Mrs, C, F. John-
son were guests.

Mr. James Michie, Mr. Er-
nest Michie and Mrs. Leslie
visited relatives in Milton on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Robinson
have moved to Auburn and have
taken over Taylor's store. We
wish them every success in their
work.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack McBurney
and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Hanna left for Expo Tuesday
morning.
We welcome Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Freethy and Diane, of
Markdale, to our community.
