Visitor from England hopes to
find a career in drama field
and Mrs. Robert Watt and James
of Toronto, Dr. Donald and
Mrs. Watt and family of Van-
couver. The latter family has
spent two months at Baie-Verte,
Newfoundland, where Dr. Watt
was relieving while the doctor
there was on holidays. Dr.
Watt and family are now start-
ing on their way home to Van-
couver. They have their own
trailer accommodation.
Mr. and Mrs. John Gaunt
were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Gaunt of Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston
and family of Listowel were
Sunday visitors with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Gershom John-
ston. Paul remained for holi-
days with his grandparents.
Other visitors at the same home
were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Johnston of Clinton and Miss
Johnston and Gary Black of
Clinton.

Jeannette would like to break
into the drama field. She has
had experience in this line with
amateur groups in England.
A "moderate Mod", she en-
joys the Beatles although she
feels they have strayed a little
from the straight and narrow re-
cently.
Jeannette wears her mini-
skirts at a more modest level
than many of her British friends
but is a real fan of the Mod
style of dress. Most of all, she
loves drama. After she finish-
ed college she studied drama
before starting to work and
hopes to realize her ambitions
in the theatre here in Canada.

correspondence was carried on
by Mrs. C. Laing, Jeannette's
grandmother who has continued
to write to her Canadian friend
ever since.
When Jeannette decided to
travel to Canada, her parents
suggested she write to the Brig-
nells and when she arrived they
met her at the airport. She has
been spending a holiday with
them for the past two weeks be-
fore starting to find employ-
ment.
"All that empty space" is
the one thing that has impress-
ed her most about the areas in
Canada she has seen so far,
areas which are considered the
most densely populated in the
country.

sale of school equipment and
furniture, held on Saturday af-

union at the Legion Hall, Lis-

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wright
have returned home from the'
west. They spent the past six
weeks visiting relatives in Mani-
toba and Saskatchewan. We
are pleased to report that Gor-
don's health is somewhat im-
proved.

When 23-year-old Jeannette
Doyle of Loughborough, Eng-
land stepped off her BOAC flight
at Toronto, only seven hours
after leaving home, waiting for
her at the airport was a Wing-
ham couple she had never met
but felt she had known all her
life.
Prior to World War II, a
young girl in a glove factory in
Kitchener, Ontario, slipped a
piece of paper in a pair of
gloves which, unknown to her,
were destined to travel to Scot-
land. On it she placed her
name and address and asked the
finder to write to her.
Today, Mrs. Dee Brignell
of Victoria Street in Wingham
remembers the excitement
when a letter arrived from a
Robert Laing, and her visitor,
Miss Doyle, is a niece of her
pen pal, Mr. Laing.

Scott). During the evening the
young couple was invited to the
front of the hall. Mrs. Jack
Inglis read the address and they
were presented with a table and
six chairs. Robert and Audrey
thanked everyone.
