St. Anne's Guild
holds meeting
FORDWICH—The August
meeting of St. Anne's Guild
was held at the home of Mrs.
Ruby Forster. Lynn Bunker pre-
sided.
Rev. H. Jenkins continued in
his series, World Religion, and
reviewed Hinduism. He said the
biggest problem with the Hindu
society is religion.
The minutes were read and
adopted and correspondence
read. A report was given on
the centennial booth. Roll call
was answered by 15 members
each paying a cent per inch of
her waistline.
The guild will buy covering
for the back entrance steps of
the church. Vicar Jenkins clos-
ed the meeting with prayer.
Mrs. Vershoor showed slides
of a trip to Africa, Holland and
France and lunch was served by
the hostess and Ruth Johnson.

ST. JAMES', LONDON
GORRIE—Misses Elva and
Ethna Foster, Jim Foster and
John Gamble of Fordwich, Mrs.
Norman Wade and Rev. H. D.
Jenkins were in London on July
30th for the baptism in St.
James' (Westminster) Anglican
Church of. James Cowin Caley,
son of Mr. and Mrs. David
Caley, Virginia, U.S.A.
Also present were the Rev.
J. C. and Mrs. Caley and
daughter Jane of Huntingdon
Beach, California. Mr. Caley
was rector of the Anglican par-
ish of Gorrie, Fordwich and
Wroxeter from 1946-50. A re-
ception was held afterward.

VISITORS CROWDED the registration desks set up in the
Belgrave Credit Union office during and after the parade
at Belgrave last week. The registrars could hardly keep

Afternoon Unit
meets at church
BELGRAVE—The Afternoon
Unit of the U.C.W. met in the
church basement on August 2.
Mrs. Robert Coultes and Mrs.
Leslie Bolt presided for the
meeting.
Mrs. Bolt gave a poem, "A
Nation Strong and Free". "Land
of Our Birth"' was the opening
hymn. Mrs. Coultes led in
prayer and Mrs. Bolt gave a
reading "Look at Your Hands".
The offering was received
and visits to the sick and shut-
ins were reported.
Mrs. Bolt read scripture and
closed with a short poem,"Twas
a Sheep'". Mrs. Coultes read
a chapter from the study book
and Mrs. Bolt closed the meet-
ing with the benediction.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Orvis
have returned to their home in
Sault Ste. Marie after spending
two weeks with the Hall and
Orvis families.
