A meeting of the Huron
County Mutual Aid Fire Associ-
ation was held in the Goderich
fire hall Monday evening. At-
tending from Wingham were H.
Aitchespn, R. Searson, K. Fox-
ton, E. Merkley, R. Hickey,
Rodney Hickey and D. A.Croth-
ers.
An interesting and informa-
tive evening was provided by
the host department under Chief
Ted Bissett. Representative
engineers and fire prevention
officers of Union Gas Company
were present and an inspector
from Ontario Hydro. They pre-
sented films and lectures which
were helpful to the firemen in
fire prevention and in tech-
niques to be employed in cases
of emergency.
There is no doubt that the
Mutual Aid meetings are a
great asset to Huron County in
that speakers are able to ad-
dress representatives from a
number of different towns in
one group. With the many dif-
ferent types of fires today the
firefighters are anxious to learn
all they can on prevention of
fires and methods to be put in-
to action to control fires when
they do occur.

One of the worries of all fire
departments in the county at
the present time is the condi-
tion of hay in some of the barns.
It is felt that some barns could
become a ball of fire through
combustion.

In a recent survey of a group
of approximately 40 adults and
teenagers the question was ask-
ed, "What is the phone num-
ber of your fire department?"
Not one person could even
come close. PLEASE write it
in the front of your book --
357-2131. Now memorize it.

grows so much faster, requires

Few people use more than.
10 0/0 of their lung capacity,
Adults breathe shallowly, just
enough to keep them living.
Learn to breathe deeply and
give yourself more oxygen. To
pepper your life with art learn
the art of intelligent conversa ,
go; Mrs. Emerson suggested.
Listen attentively, talk about
the other fellow's interests. And
now is the time to extend a
friendly greeting to strangers at
all meetings. Don't wait for
them to come to you, you go
to them,
