News Items from Fordwich Mr, and Mrs, William Abra. ham and sons of Petrolia, Mr. and Mrs, Robert Corrigan and Grant of Barrie, and Mrs. Ar- lene Young and Mr, Cove of Gravenhurst spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Abraham, A large number from this area attended the centennial celebrations held in Clifford during the week-end. Sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Lorne Fisch- er, of this area, Mrs. Fischer is an aunt of Miss Jane Pollock, missing and, presumed drowned at Kincardine. About 25 family members attended the Mulvey family re- union held in the Belmore Park on Saturday. Contests and races were enjoyed by the children and a picnic lunch served. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mulvey of London were elected the new president and secretary. Don Watson, of Fergus, is in charge of sports arrangements for the coming year. Some of our local 'sports- men' attended the Huron County Junior Farmers field day in Guelph on Saturday, Represent- ing Howick Township, the boys participated in sports events, one of them a game of base- ball in which the boys came out in second place. Mr, and Mrs. Norman New- ans visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cowing and John at Tiverton, --Mr, and Mrs. Harold Wil- liamson and son Harold of Cooksville spent ten days re- cently with Miss Agnes William- son, —Mr. Bob Muir of Palgrave visited on Tuesday with his sis- ter, Mrs. Oliver Stokes and Mr. Stokes on Minnie Street, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Frew and. Sharon, Mr. Archie MacDonald of Preston and Mr. Jan Hayes, a university student of the Univer- sity of Glasgow, Scotland, who is on a three months' tour, spent the week-end with Mr, and Mrs. Earl Moore. Mr. and Mrs. John Welsch and four children of Winnipeg are spending several weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Wray Cooper. Mr, Ian Pittendreigh of Lon- don spent a few days last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, George Pittendreigh. Mr, and Mrs. Ross Doig and Mr, and Mrs. Arnold Doig visit- ed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Don Doig at Glenmorris. Mrs, Elmer Miller and Grant spent a couple of days this week with her mother, Mrs. Drew Aitcheson in Elora. Mr, and Mrs. David C. Par- rott and two children of Fort Francis are spending a couple of weeks with the former's parents, Rev. and Mrs. W, C, Parrott, Miss Debbie Witmer of St, Clements spent a couple of weeks with Mr, and Mrs, Harry East, Mrs, Rosemary CaMpbell and Jimmy of London visited last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crosby Sothern. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald D'Arcy of Huttonville visited a few days last week with relatives in the community, Mr. and Mrs, Ron Mitchell of Elora visited one day last week with the latter's cousin, Miss Mary Cattanach and Noble, Miss Caroline Fleischauer of Stratford is spending a couple weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Warren. Mr. and Mrs, Alex Keith visited one day last week with Mrs. S. Nairn of St. Marys. Mr. John Armstrong, who was confined to Palmerston Hospital for a couple of weeks, is now living at The Fordwich Nursing Home. Special music was by the Howick Centennial Choir, Af- ter the service everyone met in the Sunday school rooms and a social time was enjoyed, Rev. and Mrs. Frank Russel, now of Guelph, were also renewing acquaintances.. Mrs. Pearl Patterson and Leslie Campbell spent one day last week in Kitchener. Mr. Alfred Jones of Guelph visited last week with Mr. and Mrs, William Sothern. The sympathy of the com- munity goes to Mr, and Mrs. Nelson Armstrong and Mr. John Armstrong in the death of their sister, the late Miss Margaret Armstrong.
