Mrs. Walter Willits read an address of appreciation to Mrs. Elliott and a gift of jewellery and a purse was presented by Mrs. Clarence Henning. The evening was spent in playing cards. The church supper held in the school room of the United Church on Wednesday evening was very successful, as to the number attending and the en- joyment provided. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Groves of Akron, Ohio and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall returned to Bluevale Thursday after visit- ing with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Casemore and family in Ken- ora, with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Orvis and family of Sault Ste. Marie and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McMichael of Orillia. Mr. and Mrs. Groves returned to Akron on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Moffatt attended a school reunion near Port Elgin on Sunday. Betty Hetherington and Margaret Craig have com- menced their summer employ- ment at Port Elgin. Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Elliott and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wheel- er of Wingham visited at the holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Forbeck at Niagara Falls. The Bluevale Womens' Insti- tute will meet at the home of Mrs. Bert Garniss on Wednes- day evening, July 12. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller of London, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Murch of Clinton were Monday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Per- cy Vincent. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Holt of R. R. 2 Bluevale celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary end with Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Strong. Mr. arid Mrs. Rcbt. Searson and Mr, and Mrs. Geo, Searson and family of Hanover spent the week-end at Huntsville. We are glad to report Mr. Ross Earl has returned home from. the K-W hospital, and has improved favorably. Mr. Wm. Koch, Mrs, Glenn Koch and Mrs. Annie Koch of Listowel visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Chas. Koch. Mr. Wm, Elliott of Molesworth visited at the same home on Sunday. Mr. Jas. Edwards and Mrs. Les. Davidson visited with Reg Nelson of Weston, on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Farrish, Jean Adams and Donna Leader returned Sunday after spending the past week at Expo. They also visited at Ottawa and Iro- quois, and with Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Farrish at North Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Under- wood, Barry and Wes Gallaway spent the week-end at Inver- huron. Mr. and Mrs. Ian Woolcott and Terry returned home to London after spending several days at the home of Mr. and on July 1st, with a family din- ner at the Blue Barn. A family get-together was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall on Sunday. Student minister received at U.C. BLUEVALE-A reception ser- vice for student minister, Mr. Michael Ross, of Windsor, was held in the United Church on Tuesday evening of last week. Rev. W. C. Parrott, of Ford- wich, conducted the service and Rev, Alan Johnson, of Brus- sels, gave the address, speak- ing of present trends in the church and the value of the ministry. Mr. Parrott conducted a brief reception service and Mr. and Mrs. Ross and son Geoffrey were introduced to the congre- gation. Following the service, re- freshments were served and a social time enjoyed. Rev. Cecil Jardine, ofWing- ham, chairman of the Presby- tery, and Rev. J. W. Hird, of Gorrie, were neighboring min- isters present. Goderich host to county council The Town of Goderich play- ed host to the members of Hur- on County Council and official and members of the press report- ing council proceedings, fol- lowing adjournment of the June Session last week. Mayor Dr. G. F. Mills, Reeve Bert Such, and Deputy Reeve Harry Worsell' and coun- cillors, welcomed the guests who were provided with a boun- teous smorgasbord dinner. Warden Donald McKenzie, Ashfield, thanked the Town of Goderich on behalf of the gath- ering, which was held in the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, What on earth will today's younger generation be able to tell their children they had to do without? Brussels United. Church was the setting for the wedding on June 24 of Sandra Darlene Ma- chan and Wayne Edward Becker. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Lawrence Machan and the late Mr. Machan and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becker of Stratford. Given in marriage by her brother, Clarence Machan of Wingham, the bride wore a floor-length gown of peau de soie with empire waist, lace bodice and lace bell-shaped sleeves. The gown was accent- ed by a lace trimmed train and her shoulder-length veil was held by a double wedding ring tiara, She carried white mums and pink carnations. Her sister, Mrs. Shirley Wheeler of Brussels, was matron of honor. Misses Dianne and Anne Machan, twin sisters of the bride, were her bridesmaids. They wore identical street- length dresses of lace over taf- feta in centennial rose shade ,h.i.tjj,„tpjj,ndO necklirles, em- pire waists and bell-shaped sleeves. They wore matching headpieces and carried bouquets of white and pink mums. The flower girl was Miss Cheryl Currie of Brampton, niece of the bride. Her dress was the same as the gowns of the other attendants and she carried a basket of white and pink flowers. The ringbearer was Steven Morrison of Wingham, nephew of the bride. The groom's cou- sin, David Street of Chatham, was the best man and ushers were the bride's brother, Gor- don Machan of Brussels and R.C.M.P. office A two-man Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment of- fice has been opened in Goder- ich for Perth and Huron coun- ties. The RCMP district office at London announced Constable R. G. Windsor would be in charge. The other staff mem- ber is Constable R. E. Moffatt. Mr. A. G. McGregor has the foundation of his residence on the corner of Frances and John streets completed and will begin the brickwork shortly. -- Wingham Times 1893. Clarence Darrow was once asked to give his definition of a smart man. "A smart man," he replied, "is a fellow who hasn't let a woman pin any- thing on him since he was a baby." Frank Stralhearn of Kitchener, cousin of the groom. Rev. Allen Johnston officiat- ed and Miss Sharon Strong sang Wedding Prayer and 0, Perfect Love. Dinner was served in the church basement and a recep- tion followed the dinner in the Legion Hall. The bride's mother wore a pale pink linen dress with matching lace jacket and white accessories and the groom's mother was attired in a rose lace dress with matching hat and white accessories. For the wedding trip to Northern Ontario Mrs. Becker wore an orange linen suit with white accessories and a corsage of white mums. Mr. and Mrs. Becker will live in Kitchener. Five generations on Fraser farm Glenn Fraser, Lot 13, Con. 2, Grey Township, lives on the farm which has been in the family name since 1865, when his great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Finlay Fraser settled on it. Mr. Fraser gave land on the corner of his farm to build a Brethren Church. Finlay Fraser had two of a family, Malcolm and Belle (Mrs. Wm. Lynn). Malcolm married Marguret McFarlane in 1885 and they had three sons and one daugh- ter, John, Dr. Finlay and George and Ella NI. of Burling- ton. George died in 1948, and Dr. Finlay in 1966. Malcolm and his wife moved to Brussels in 1915 and he died in 1923; his wife died in 1937. John Fraser and his wife Florence Scott took over the farm and resided there till moving to Wroxeter in 1954. He died in 1961. They have one son Glenn. He and his wife, the former Gwen Ruttan, ate the present owners. They have one son Gregory, four years old, the fifth generation to live on the farm.
