gathered at the home of Mrs.
Ervin Reidt to honor Audrey
Scott, bride of next month,
The evening was spent compil-
ing a bride's book and a con-
test..
The moat was gaily decorat-,
ed with pink and white stream'
ers and bells, Audrey was seat-
ed in a chair decorated with
pink and white streamers and
bows. She was assisted in open-
ing the many beautiful gifts by
her sister, Marion, and Mrs.
Gordon Scott.
Audrey thanked' everyone.
She wore a hat made of the
bows from the gifts and read
back everything she had said
while opening them which prov-
ed quite amusing,
The hostess was assisted with
the shower by Mrs. Doran
Thornton of Gorrie and Mrs.
Alice Haelzle and Mrs. Agnes
Givens of Mildmay.

meeting of the McIntosh U.C,
W. met in the church base-
ment June 21, with 18 present.
Mrs, Harvey Wright opened the
meeting with a thought for the
day, Mrs. Walter Renwick led
devotions arid a hymn was sung.
The Scripture was read by Mrs.
Eldon Renwick, Mrs. Walter
Renwick offered prayer.
A reading from the book,
".An Invitation to Canada" was
read by Mrs. Jim Renwick,
Mrs, Clark Renwick took over
the study period. The topic
was "The Different Churches"
The offering was received by
Mrs, David Harper, followed by
the roll call, "A Father of Con-
federation" .
A report from the chairman
of each committee was given.
The president closed with
prayer. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Jack Inglis and Mrs. Jack
Wright.

theme.
Many former members and
several former ministers at-
tended the service, Mr.
Hawker also read greetings
from ministers, Rev, Stanley
Keast and Rev, Leland Jorgen-
son, both of whom are now in
the United States.
Following the service, those
present were asked to sign a
register, of which Mrs. Myrtle
Weir was in charge, Mrs, Isaac
Stokes presided over a display
of church Records and photo-
graphs, Lunch was served fol-
lowing the service of worship.
Belmore
Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Bal-
lagh and family spent Sunday in
Kitchener where they were
among the thousands who tour-
ed the Confederation Train.
BELMQRE--A special cen-
tennial service was held on
Sunday afternoon at Knox Pres-
byterian Church at Belmore.
An order of service patterned
after the conventicle services
of Scotland and used in early
Canadian Presbyterian church-
es was followed with Ralph
Dickson acting as beadle and
William Jeffrey as precentor.
Rev. Everett R, Hawkes,
ister of the church, was in
charge. The clerk of session,
Thomas Inglis, assisted in the
service,
A brief history of the con-
gregation, written by Mrs. El-
mer Zinn, was given by Mrs.
Kenneth Dickson. The choir,
under the direction of Mrs. Al-
vin Mundell, sang an anthem
with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Darl-
ing singing a duet, A trio
comprised of Mrs. Mundell,
Mts. Bruce Darling and Mrs.
Glenn Appleby, also sang a
medley of sacred songs, Rev.
WI meeting held
in Belmore hail
BELMORE—The June meet"
ing of -the Sehnore Women's
Institute was held on Thursday
evening of last week, in the
Institute Hall. Mrs. Donald
Wallace was the convenor. The
topic of the meeting was "Agri-
culture and Canadian Industries.;
Mrs. Thomas Abraham spoke
on "Farming a hundred years
ago in our community". The
roll call was "a Centennial pro-
ject that I would like to com-
plete". A novelty contest,
wherein the competitors donned
heavy mitts and tried to peel
potatoes, proved amusing.
Special guest at the meet-
ing was Mrs. Alan McGill, of
near Wingham, who showed
pictures and described a recent
trip to Australia and New Zea-
land,
Lunch was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Wallace and
Mrs. David Eadie.

Burt Hubbard, Gordon Wright,
Don Webber and William Smith
are patients in Bruce County
Hospital, Walkerton, We wish
them all a speedy recovery.
Douglas Dennis of Guelph
spent the week-end with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Dennis,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Giles of
Arkona and. Gary Giles and
Rosemary Bolton of Toronto
visited Saturday with Mr. arid
Mrs. Lyle Murray.
Mrs. Arthur Hossfeld of Wal-
kerton spent a few days with
Mr. and Mrs,. Lyle Murray,
Mrs. Karl Krumland returned
from her visit to Expo and re-
ports she had a lovely time.
She also spent a few days in
Toronto and in Ajax.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wylie
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Wylie at Fordwich on Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pritchard
of Palmerston visited on Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Webber.
Hoskins reunion
EELMORE—The Haskins fam-
ily reunion was held June 18th,
or the Delmore Park, with an
attendance of more than 70,
from as far Away as Georgetown,
Hamilton, Lions. Head, Water',
loo, and from the surrounding
area. New officers elected
were: President, Earl Haskins;
vice-president, Duffy Colvin;
secretary, Mrs. Charles Ellis;
sports committee, Gwelda and.
Douglas Rate.
Prizes were given to child-
ren for races and other contests.
Sterling Haskins was the oldest
person present; Barbera Haskins,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Earl
Haskins, was the youngest.
Lunch was served at the close of
the afternoon.
Queen chosen
LAKELET—The Lakelet
Women's Institute has chosen its
Centennial Queen. She is Mrs.
Gordon Wright and the runner-
up is Mrs. Harold Wallace.
METCMFE REUNION
13ELIVIORE—The Metcalfe
family reunion was held en Sun-
day at the home of Mr, and
Mrs. Leonard Metcalfe, Fifty
family members attended from
London, Verges, Lions Head,
Wingham and Millmay, They
enjoyed contests, games (arid
eating), and closed their day's
entertainment with a sing-song
of old favorites.
INDUCTION SERVICE
BELMORE—Rev. J. Rea Grant
was inducted as minister of the
Belmore-McIntosh-Mildmay
United Church pastoral charge,
on Tuesday evening of last
week, The induction service
was conducted by Rev, Eric
Nelson of Walkerton and Rev.
John Crawford of cape Croker,
and was held in the Mildmay
United Church.
Rev. Mr. Grant has been
interim supply for the charge
since February. He becomes
resident minister here beginning
July 1st,
