AN OLD TIME CHOIR formed by the la-
dies of the Wingham United Church took
part in the centennial service on Sunday.
An autoharp and antique organ were used
for the musical accompaniment. Singing

attend meeting
WHITECHURCH-CalVin,
Brick D.C.W. held its centen-
nial Meeting last Wednesday at
the home of Mrs. Gordon Me-
Burney with a large attendance.
Many were former members
who have moved from the lo-
cality.
Mrs. Norman Coultes was
pianist. The minutes were
read by Mrs. Sidney Thompson.
Jams and jellies are to be hand-
ed in at once for the manse and
also articles for the bale.
The induction and reception
of the new minister, Rev. J. G.
Roberts, will be held in Bel-
grave on June 30. A lunch com-
mittee, Mrs. Lawrence Taylor,
Mrs. George McGee, Mrs. Sid-
ney Thompson, Mrs. Ronald
Coultes and Mrs. Alex Robert-
son was appointed to assist the
social committee plan lunch
for the centennial church ser-
vice being held August 6.
The topic, "The Review of
the Church's History" was given
by Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft and
Mrs. Gordon McBurney. For-
mer members recalled many
community events related to
Calvin-Brick.
The singing nf several old-
time hymns was enjoyed. Mrs.
Jack McGee of Wingham, a
former Calvin Church organist
played "Abide With Me".
Prayer was given by, Mrs.
George McGee and Mrs. Gil-
bert Beecroft gave the medita-
tion. The offering was receiv-
ed and dedicated by Mrs. Bee-
croft.
Mr, and Mrs, Jot, Austin, of
Elmira, visited Friday with WA
and Mrs. WM. Austin.
Mrs. Harry TeMpleinall and
Kenneth spent Friday and. Satur-
day with Mr. and Mrs.. John
Andari of Clinton,
Mr. and Mrs, Norman Wade
returned Thursday from visiting
their son Robert and Mrs. Wade
of Montreal. They also visited
Expo,
We are glad to report Mas-
ter Sandy McEwen has returned
from Mt. Forest Hospital,
Mr. Ross Earl is in the K-W
Hospital, where he underwent
surgery and is improving favor-
ably.

members of Gorrie United
Church entertained their moth-
ers in the Sunday School room
last Thursday evening.
Mrs. Ewait Whitfield spent
the week-end in Toronto at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas.
Wylie, who were celebrating
their 40th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Whit-
field and son Billy left Burling-
ton on Friday for their new
home in Calgary where he was
transferred by his firm. A fare-
well get-together of Doug and
Shelagh's many friends was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Strong, where they
were presented with a set of
plaques prior to their departure.

Mr. and Mrs. Russel Church of
Botha, Alta., visited recently
with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Felk-

ion was held in Gorrie on Satur-
day with '70 in attendance. Mrs.
Laura Jacques of Harriston was
the oldest lady in attendance
and Miss Bonnie Burchill of
Wingham the youngest person.
The couple most recently mar-
ried were Mr. and Mrs. Lew
Taylor, Kitchener and the long-
est married couple Mr. and Mrs.
Earnest Radford, Clinton. Bert
Hubbard was re-elected presi-
dent; 1st vice pres. , Redmond
McDonald; 2nd vice, Bill Hart
and Mrs. Harold Robinson is
secretary-treasurer.

Services on Sunday

of four Centennial services was
held in the Gorrie United
Church on Sunday evening. Rev.
Ronald Sweeney was in charge
with Dr. Andrew Mowatt of
Wesley Willis United Church,
Clinton, preaching the sermon.
Rev. John Brush of Molesworth
and Gorrie Presbyterian Church-
es assisted.
The ladies of the congrega-
tion served 'refreshments after
the service and a social time
was enjoyed.

BLUEVALE-Jane Campbell
and Betty Hetherington enter-
tained their Sunday School pu-
pils of the United Church at a
picnic at the Hetherington
home on Sunday afternoon. The
pupils were Kathy Willits, Judy
Sellers, Mary Ann Nicholson,
Jo-Anne Edgar, David Brewer,
Ken and Neil Warwick and Bar-
bara and Karen Johnston. Lunch,
songs and games provided an
eventful afternoon.

BELMORE- A large crowd
attended the presentation and
dance held on Friday evening in
the Belmore Hall in honor of
recent newlyweds, Mr. and
Mrs. John Wilhelm, (Diane
Fitch). Wilbee's Orchestra
played for dancing.
Miss Irene Doubledee read an
address and Barry Mulvey pre-
sented them with a purse of
money. Both John and Diane
expressed their thanks. Lunch
was served at the close of the
evening.
25th anniversary
BLUEVALE-On Friday eve-
ning a number of friends gather.
ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
George Hetherington on the oc-
casion of their 25th wedding an-
niversary. Mrs. Walter Willits
read an address and the group
presented the celebrants with an
occasional chair.
Cards were played and 30
guests enjoyed a pleasant eve-
ning and lunch, including a
decorated cake made by Mrs.
Mel Craig.
FAREWELL SERMON
WHITECHURCH--On Sunday
Rev. George Mitchell, United
Church minister for five years,
preached his farewell sermon.
The subject of his message was,
"Leave Your Measuring Line at
Home". If the measuring line
is left at home you will not be
criticizing what others are do-
ing in church work or in other
walks of life.
On Tuesday evening many
from this congregation attend-
ed the welcome service for the
student minister and his wife,
Mr. and Mrs. M. Ross and fam-
ily of the Windsor area.

Seems a couple of our young
fellows are suffering from brok-
en bones in the hand, Causes
of the accidents are vague, but
could be that somewhere there
is a bloke who's sorry he talked
back to the Belmore Boys!

at Calvin-Brick
WHITECHURCH-Rev. Hugh
Wilson conducted communion
service at Calvin-Brick on Sun-
day. Mrs. Richard Moore, by
certificate, became a mem-
ber.
Rev. Wilson preached his
farewell sermon and next Sun-
day it is expected Rev. Roberts
and his wife and family from
Wales will be living in the par-
sonage. Rev. Roberts will have
charge of the service. We wel-
come them to the community.
IRA NEILL FAMILY
MOVES TO WINGHAM
BELMORE--A pleasant eve-
ning was spent recently when
neighbors and friends gathered
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira
Neill and Raymond, prior to
their moving to Wingham. Dur-
ing the evening crokinole and
cards were enjoyed.
Bidding farewell and extend-
ing best wishes of the commun-
ity as they move to their new
home, their friends presented
Mr. and Mrs. Neill with an
electric tea kettle and a blan-
ket, and Raymond with a bill-
fold. Each made a fitting re-
ply. Lunch was then served.

at the P.C. candidates meeting held at the Westbury Hotel
in Toronto. Forty-three newly-nominated P,C. candidates
and their campaign managers spent the morning discussing
election issues and local problems with Premier Roberts
and 16 Members of the Ontario Cabinet. At the same
time Mrs. Roberts was hostess at an informal luncheon for
candidates' wives at the king Edward Hotel, Toronto.
