It monopolized the entire hour, which meant we saw no "Pro- fessor" interview, no panto- mime, and no other comedy skit. It was entitled "My Fair Partner" and was to be an ac- count of how Johny and Frank first met and became partners. Of course, it was not a true story. The thought of Frank be- ing 'the top comedian in the country' and Johny a garbage- collector, is a little far-fetched since Johny has always been the comedian of the two. Since both are extremely clever men and university graduates, it is unlikely either would have been garbage collectors, had they not clicked as a comedy team! As the title implies, the show was a parody of "My Fair Lady", the story of how a lowly flower-lady is transformed into a beautiful woman, by an Eng- lish professor. The songs of "My Fair Lady", numbers like BROWNIE'S DRIVE-IN THEATRE — CLINTON Box Office Opens at 8:00 THURSDAY, FRIDAY June 22 and 23 — DOUBLE FEATURE — "RIOT ON SUNSET STRIP" Showing at 9:30 O'clock Only (Adult Entertainment) Aldo Ray -- Mimsy Farmer and Michael Evans COLOR and "WILD YOUTH" (Adult Entertainment) Showing at 11 O'clock Only CARTOON SAT., MON. — June 24-26 "BATTLE OF THE BULGE" Showing 9:30 and 11:00 O'clock Henry Fonda — Robert Ryan and Dana Andrews COLOR CARTOON TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY June 27 and 28 "THE WILD ANGELS" ADMITTANCt R EsTa.C.TED 10 mom ISMS OD MI cisal Showing 9:30 and 11:00 O'clock Peter Fonda -- Nancy Sinatra COLOR CARTOON Coming Next: Top Family Entertainment "BORN FREE" 4,ceeem Monday to Thursday at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday —2 shows at 7:15 and 9:15; Sat. June 211-29-30 "FOLLOW mg BOYS"' "Tis Show Biz By \'onni Lev "A Little Bit of Luck", " I' ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face, "I Could Have Danced All Night", "Wouldn't It Be Lover- ly?", and "Get Me To The Church on Time", were all cleverly rewritten for this show, into little treasures like "A Lit- tle Bit of Lux", "I've Grown Accustomed to his Farce", "They Could Have Laughed All Night", "I Wouldn't Be So Slov- enly", and "Get Me To the Show on Time". The tunes were slightly changed, but eas- ily recognizable, Supporting player Paul Klig- man who is always with Johny and Frank in some kind of role, was his same old entertaining self. He played Frank's man- ager Marty. It was an enter- taining piece of work. Now, I wonder why they don't write a sketch about how they REALLY met and became partners; that may not be as funny, but no doubt, every bit as interesting! Shirley Harmer was back on this show with Wayne and Shus- ter, and bless her heart, she al- ways seems to find something to make her less beautiful! Last time it was her dress; this time, though she wore a lovely dress, her hairdo was strictly for the birds, and I mean that literal- ly! In fact, there may have already been one in there some- where! Ah well, speaking of birds, she still sings like one so who cares what she looks like? 0--0--0 Last week Hollywood lost a great star - the kind of person who brings nothing but honor to a town and a profession, and the kind of which there are ex- tremely few today. Spencer Tracy passed away at his Holly- wood home, as the result of a heart attack. The 67-year-old actor had just completed his last movie. His co-star in the picture was Katherine Hepburn, a long, long, long-time friend of Spence, who had co-starred with him in eight other pictures. He won two Academy Awards - one in 1937 for "Captains Courageous" and the other the following year for his priestly role in "Boys Town". Besides KENNEDY PICNIC The Kennedy annual picnic was held in the Wingham town hail on Saturday, June IQ. The Wingharn Women's Institute catered. Relatives attended from Kamloops, Goder- ich, Guelph, Milton, Kincar- dine, Lucknow, Walkerton, Galt and Morriston. ADVANCE TICKETS — $1.00 AT THE GATE — $1.25 CHILDREN 10-14 — 75c Children under 10 Free Advance Tickets may be purchased from ANY KINSMEN these two roles, he is probably best remembered for his roles in "Father of the Bride" ,"Fath- er's Little Dividend", "Inherit the Wind, and in pictures with Miss Hepburn, "Pat and Mike" and The Desk Set". He could play heavy dramatic roles with a master's touch, but was equal- ly at home, and just as enter- taining, in comedy. MIXED DOUBLES TOURNAMENT HERE Twelve pairs of mixed dou- bles entered a lawn bowling tournament on Monday eve- ning from Lucknow, Teeswater and Wingham. The three top pairs were Mr. and Mrs. J. S. McDonald of Teeswater; Mr. and Mrs. E. Webster; Mr. Frank Howson and Mrs. H. Edwards, The social committee serv- ed a.delicious lunch after the game. 89-YEAR-OLD KNOBBY CLARK, who join- ed the Imperial Navy in 1899 and served in World War I was one of the Westmin- ster Hospital veterans to visit Wingham last week. He is pictured with another of the patients, Gus Hoffarth, a native of Hanover and a brother-in-law of Earl O'Bright of Wingham. He served in both the first and second world wars. —Advance-Times Photo. games, big margins On June 18th the Wingham Ronnie Murray led the attack with two doubles and two home runs.
