David W. Dane
dies in Toronto
GORRIE--David Weir Dane,
81, a resident of Toronto for
the past 2',1 years, passed away
at the Queen Elizabeth Ilospital
on. Saturday morning, June 10
after a long illness, tie was a
son of the late Motthew Dane
and his wife Agnes Weir.
He was born in Howlett Town-
ship on August 29th, 1886 and
resided here until moving to
Toronto in 1928, He was mar-
ried September 17, 1013 to
Laura Wade, Howick Township,
who survives him with one son,
Whitney Dane of Toronto. There
are three grandchildren. A son
Jack predeceased him at seven
months.
Mr. and Mrs. Dane celebrat-
ed their golden wedding anni-
versary in 1063.
He was a former member of
the Gorrie United Church, and
in Toronto of the St. Clair Av-
enue United Church.
Funeral service was at the
McDougal Brown Home in Tor-
onto on Monday evening and in
the Moir funeral home, Gorrie,
on Tuesday at 2 p. m, with Rev.
Ronald Sweeney in charge.
Burial was in Gorrie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Mug-
ford, Alfred Hetherington, Ed-
gar Dane, David Dane, Robert
Wade and Ron Miles.
Flower bearers were Burns
Stewart, William Wilson, Bruce
Harkness and Leonard Sanderson.

was conducted by the minister,
Rev. C. M. Jardine with Miss
Iva Mai Smith in charge of the
music,
Following the organ prelude
by Miss Smith, Mr. Jardine
gave the call to worship and the
service took its usual form.
Bruce MacDonald, Master of
the lodge read the New Testa-
ment scripture. The choir sang
two anthems, "The Centennial

CPP to locate
in Listowel
OTTAWA—A Canada Pen-
sion Plan Local Office is to be
established on a part-time basis
in Listowel, starting June 28, to
provide more convenient ser-
vice to residents of the area,
National Health and Welfare
Minister Allan J. MacEachen
has announced.
The office will be located in
the Canada Manpower Centre,
125 Argyle Avenue, North. The
Listowel Local Office will be
open on Wednesday of each
week and will be staffed by
C.P.P. personnel from the Kit-
chener District Office. At oth-
er times during the week, ap-
plication forms for benefits and
other material related to the
Canada Pension Plan will be ob-
tainable from personnel of the
Canada Manpower Centre.
Listowel is one of 29 centres
in which facilities of Canada
Manpower Centres are to be
used to make Pension Plan ser-
vices more conveniently avail-
able to the public. With 60
local offices already operating
on a part-time basis in prem-
ises of the Unemployment In-
surance Commission, and 37
district offices established on a
full-time basis, services of the
Canada Pension Plan are now
available in a total of 126 com-
munities.

Mr. Roy Gadke visited on Mon-
day with Mr. and Mrs, Peter
Chiomey in Port Colborne. Mas-
ter Paul Chiomey returned
home after spending two weeks
with his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Keith.
Mrs. Thos. Hutton
dies in Clinton
A well-known former resi-
dent of the Wingham area, Mrs.
Thomas James Hutton, died at
the Clinton Public Hospital on
Sunday after an illness of only
a few days.
The former Annie Maude
Smith, she was born in Cuirass
Township, a daughter of the
late James Smith and his wife,
Mary M. Gardner. She was
educated in Teeswater, and on
September 1, 1001, was inar-
ried to Mr. Smith, also in Tees-
water. Mr. Smith died on Jan,
6, 1939.
Surviving are one daughter
and seven sons; Mrs. Malcolm
(Annie) Mundell, Hamiltoe; E.
Kirkwood, Belle River; James
S., Toronto; Louis and Ilarold
F„ Wingham; Rolland B., De-
troit; Lloyd W. , Kincardine and
Wallace E., London. There
are 10 grandchildren.
Mrs. Hutton was a member
of the Wingham United Church,
Service was conducted at the S.
J. Walker funeral home on
Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. C.
M. Jardine, of the United
Church and burial was in the
Wingham Cemetery. Pallbear-
ers were five sons and a grand-
son ; James, Louis, Harold,
Wallace, Lloyd and James A.,
of Toronto, the latter a grand-
son, The. flower bear-
ers were M. S.R. Sarma, of Ra-
ja Mundry, India, Harold Con-
gram and Robert Arbuckle.
