"The core of the problem is
in finding a new way for the
church to express her recogni-
tion of God," said a panelist
during a presentation at the an-
nual meeting of the United
Church's Hamilton Conference
held in Waterloo recently. This
was only one of many com-
ments made at the four-day ses-
sions concerning the ineffective-
ness of the church's present pro-
gram and structure.
The conference president,
Dr. G. K. McMillan, urged
more amalgamation of rural
and urban congregations and
even the re-alignment of Pres-
bytery boundaries to assist the
church in oping with the chang-
ing needs and conditions of
modern society. Another pro-
posal came in the course of the
camp study report which would
place all camp properties in the
hands of Conference and allow
for better and more specialized
types of church camping.
A note of alarm was sounded
One of the highlights of the
current fund drive for a swim-
ming pool occurred on Tuesday
evening when canvasser Jake
Jutzi was presented with a two-
gallon jug of pennies by the
five children of Mr. and Mrs.
Renus Bailey at the Sunrise
Dairy. The pennies represent-
ed savings by the children.
In order to spark further
interest in the pool campaign
the finance committee has de-
cided to put the jug of pennies

Howson s Blyth
mill officially
opened last week
The grand opening of the
new Howson and Howson Mill
was held at Blyth on Wednesday
afternoon with a large crowd of
area farmers and townspeople
on hand for the program. High-
light of the opening was the of-
ficial ribbon cutting ceremony
performed by Murray Gaunt,
M,P,P, for Huron-Bruce,, and
Mr. Fred Howson, manager of
the Blyth mill.
In the line of entertainment,
the Tommy Bishop wild west
group from Rideville performed
in two separate shows, thrilling
children and adults alike with
their daring riding tricks and
skillful roping and riding.
During the afternoon tours
through the new mill were of
interest to a great many farm-
ers and their families as they
saw the most up-to-date equip-
ment in the milling industry.
A new warehouse to house both
bulk and bag fertilizer was add-
ed to the plant and a new front
office and showroom of modern
design.
At present the Howson opera-
tion in Blyth employs about 25
persons and keeps seven trucks
busy. They produce over 1,100
bags of flour and 25 to 30 tons
of feed a day.
Speakers at the opening in
addition to Purina officials were
Frank Howson, Fred Howson,
Bob McKinley, M.P. for Huron
and Murray Gaunt, M.P.P. for
Huron-Bruce.

This is your best time to buy a new Ford. Right now, you can get a
better deal from your Ford dealer on every car he sells-because
Ford sales are increasing all across Canada-and setting all-time
records in many areas. The result is a better deal for you.
But there's another reason for buying a new Ford, besides the better
deal you can get. It's the quality you get in Fords. This quality is
