One frequently encounters
the two arguments that it is at-
mospheric pollution not cigar-
ettes that is the cause of lung
cancer and that many life-long
smokers die in old age of caus-
es other than lung cancer, so it
is as well to deal with them at
this time. No doctor has ever
claimed that cigarettes are the
only factor in the causation of
lung cancer, and atmospheric
pollution undoubtedly makes a
contribution, but it is a very
small one in comparison with
the smoking of cigarettes, It is

are less likely to cause lung
cancer, They share with the
cigarette, causal relationship in

gastric and duodenal ulcers.
Really, the only logical mea-
sure would be the complete pro-
hibition of the advertising of
tobacco products by any of the
media of mass communication.
The effect on smoking habits
would be profound and drama-

1 medium cauliflower 2 cloves garlic, crushed
(about 21/2 MS.) teaspoon salt
314, cup boiling water 141 teaspoon pepper
1,6 teaspoon salt 1 to 2 tsps. lemon juice
Y cup butter
Remove leaves and stalk from cauliflower. Separate
head into small flowerets and wash thoroughly. Cook in
boiling, salted water until almost tender, about 10 min.
Drain thoroughly. Melt butter, add garlic and drained
cauliflower, Sprinkle with the remaining teaspoon salt
and pepper. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat, stirring
".occasionally, until cauliflower is tender and lightly brown-
