They have selected a fine
cast to entertain the public this
year; the highlight of course,
will be seeing Chris Plummer
again. He will play Antony in
"Antony and Cleopatra" and
was earlier announced for a sec-
ond role which he dropped, his
co-star, Cleopatra, will be
played by Australian actress Zoe
Caldwell, whom we have seen
in a number of Canadian tele-
vision dramas. She will also
play Lady Ann in "Richard III"
and Mistress Page in "The Mer-
ry Wives of Windsor", the other
Shakespearean plays which will
be produced this season, Alan
Bates will have the title role in
'Richard', the role that was to
have been Plummer's.
Tony Van Bridge will have
the starring role of Falstaff in
'Merry Wives', and for those of
us who remember his standout
performances in that role on
other occasions, that should be
something to see: He will also
play a starring role in the fourth
play to be presented, Nikolai
Gogol's "The Government In-
spector". He is one of the stars
who is now on tour across this
fair land of ours.
Frances Hyland, our little
bundle of charm, will return for
her ninth year on the Stratford
stage. She will play Queen
Margaret in 'Richard', and Mis-
tress Ford in 'Merry Wives of
Windsor'. Top actor William
Hutt will have three roles --
Kblestakov in 'Government In-
spector', Enobarbus in 'Antony
and Cleopatra', and the Duke
of Clarence in 'Richard'. Ber-
nard Behrens will play roles in
all four plays, while cast in
roles in three of the plays are
Eric Christmas in 'Merry Wives',
`"le ahVidc';'',Aleas' An4f6riVIgfiCl'" •
Cleopa tra'; Leo Ciceri in Rich-

will be another of the gals, ap,-

'Government Inspeetor'.
The season will open on June

night with "Merry Wives of

Winter sports for
the Belmore-ites
BELNIORE-Our curlers are at
it again: At a recent bonspiel
in Listowel, the How ick Lions
'spiel, a rink comprised of
Clark Renwick, Tom Inglis,
Harry Miller and Mac Inglis won
third prize with an overall score
for the day, of two wins and a
plus of eight.
At a St. Patrick's 'spiel in
Harriston, a mixed rink com-
prised of Maud Greenley, Clark
Renwick and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Inglis, didn't have such good
luck (not a gude Irishman
amung 'em), winning one game
only. At the same day's activi-
ties a rink comprised of Mr.and
Mrs. Jim Renwick and Mr. and
Mrs. Stuart Douglas won two
games, with a score of two wins
and a plus of eight. Third prize
winner was 2 wins plus 9, so
that rink came so close that it
hurt, Better luck next time,
gang.

Bill? Bill also won the high
triple with an 873. Now that's
what I call bowling! Maybe it
was the absence of the beard
that did it.

Plums 115, Bob's Bananas 106,
Bob's Blueberries 93, Elwood's
Peaches 88, Frank's Figs 85,

Poor Hilda felt so very bad when
she missed that cornerpin
She turned around, picked up a
ball
And thought she'd try again.
But she was laughing pretty hard
And gave the ball a toss,
The silly thing flew sideways
And she threw if right at Ross.
It seemed to give him quite a
start,
But she missed him by a mile,
Now here's what I call Sports-
manship,
He looked at her and SMILED!
