HERB FULLER, Wendy and Bill were hon- ored at a buffet dinner and social evening at the home of Mrs. Ken Cerson last Thursday when about 65 Pleasant Valley neighbors and friends gathered to present them with farewell gifts. Wendy received earrings, Bill a wallet, and Mr. and Mrs. Fuller received a chair with Mrs. Percy Harris making the presentation. Mr. and Mrs. Fuller will leave within the next couple of weeks for Lions Head, where they have purchased a hardware business. Wendy and Bill will join their parents at the end of the school term. Mr. Brian Coultes of Sea- forth spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Coultes. Tiffin and Mrs. Russel Ritchie, and the latter with Mrs. Chas. Johnston at Victoria Hospital. We are pleased to report that Mr. Nat Thompson was able last week to return from Wingham and District Hospital to his home. The below zero temperature was not welcomed in these parts as it meant frozen water pipes and taps for many farmers who we are sure will be happy to see the old black crows flying around, heralding the fact spring is just around the corner to alleviate all their troubles. Mr. Charles Martin was re- moved from his home to Wing- ham and District Hospital by ambulance on Wednesday. The community extends wishes for a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mr. Russel Ritchie, Mrs. Chas. Tiffin and Mr. Joe Mirehouse were in London on Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital where they visited with Mr. Charles Tiffin and Mrs. Russel Ritchie. We are sorry to report Miss Mary Laidlaw had to return to Wingham and District Hospital on Wednesday. A speedy return to health is wished for her. Whitechurch U.C.W. will hold the Easter Thankoffering in the church at 2.30 p.m. , Ap- ril 5. Rev. Roberts of Auburn will show slides and give a com- mentary on Argentina. Bluevale and Wingham U.C.W. and Chalmers Presbyterian groups will be guests. EUCHRE PARTY BLUEVALE—The Bluevale Recreation Association's euchre party on Thursday evening had twenty tables in play. Prize winners were high scores, Mrs. Leslie Greenaway and Gershom Johnston; lucky card, George Brewer. The committee in charge was Mr. and Mrs. Art Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Casemore, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Campbell. —Mr. and Mrs. Jack Murch of Clinton were visitors on Tuesday of last week with Mr. and Mrs. Percy Vincent. Margaret Azelea Belle Mc- Cullough, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sid McCullough of Blyth, became the bride of Ivan Mer- rill Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cook, also of Myth in a ceremony performed in Blyth United Church by Rev. W. O. Mather on March 12. The church was decorated with chrysanthemums and can- delabra. Mrs. Donald Kai was organist and Mrs. Harold Camp- bell sang, "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Wedding Prayer". Mr. McCullough gave his Desperate need for more foster homes says CAS director Difficulty of Huron County Children's Aid Society in find- ing foster homes for older child- ren and teenagers was outlined to Huron County Council Mon- day by Miss Clare McGowan, director of the Society. She described it as "a desperate sit- uation". "Most people apply to the board for children want pre- school children," she declared, "yet we have about 40 children over five years of age in foster homes. In talking with neigh- bouring societies, we find they are in the same position. Tell your friends we need more homes for older children, and enlist their help." Miss McGowan said that since November 1966, the So- ciety had to find homes for 25 children, six of whom were teenagers and six babies. As of March 1, a total of 21 children were on adoption pro- bation (one of these a teenager); 53 were in foster homes, and five in institutions. Since the beginning of March, the Socie- ty has had to admit six more children, only one of whom is a small baby, daughter in marriage. She wore a floor-length gown of hand- clipped Chantilly lace over taf- feta. The bateau neckline and short sleeves were enhanced by a cape effect, sweeping to a full chapel train. A dainty rose petal headpiece held her four- tiered veil. She carried a white Bible crested with American Beauty roses set in net and en- twined with matching ribbon. Mrs. Randy Babcock of Lam- beth, cousin of the groom, was matron of honor and the brides- maids were Miss Shirley Mc- St. Helens Mrs. John Cameron and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Raynard were in London on Saturday where they visited with Mr. John Cameron who is a patient in Victoria Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mc- Intyre of Richmond Hill were week-end visitors with Mrs.W.I. Miller and Isobel. Good Friday service will be held in St. Helens Church on Friday at 11 o'clock. Miss W. D. Rutherford re- turned at the week-end from a vacation in Florida. Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Willis spent a few days in London where Mr. Willis had a medi- cal check-up. Fourteen ladies enjoyed the copper tooling course at St. Helens. Mrs. Thompson of the Department of Agriculture and Food conducted the course. Mr. Ezra Scholtz was dis- charged on Saturday from Wing- ham and District Hospital. His village friends are happy to wel- come him home. We are happy to report Mrs. George Young was discharged from Wingham and District Hos- pital on Friday and returned to her home at Langside. On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw and Janet held a family reunion for her family. Present for the occas- ion were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Crowston of Lucknow, Mr. and Mrs. M. Crowston, Linda and John of Kincardine, Earl "Bud" Crowston of Lytton, B.C., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crowston, Debbie and Dale of Chatham, Mr. and Mrs. Clay- ton Alton and Ann of Ashfield, Mr. and Mrs, Orland Irwin, Stephen, Faye and Donald of Lucknow. It was the first time in many years the family had all been together. Needless to say, many pictures were taken of the gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Parish Moffat of Wingham were Saturday eve- ning visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Russel Gaunt, Mr. Jack Aitchison returned to his home here on Sunday af- ter being on a 21-day bus tour which included Chicago, St. Louis, Tulsa, Tucurricari in New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Muir Woods in Nea braska, Salt Lake City and Otria- Cullough, sister of the bride and Mrs, Paul Cook of Clinton. They were gowned in pale blue street-length dresses of Chan- tilly lace with matching acces- sories and carried bouquets of white pompon mums with red ribbon. Randy Babcock was best man and the ushers were Warren Cook of Blyth, brother of the groom, and Paul Cook of Clinton, cou- sin of the groom. The United Church parlor was decorated with pink bells and pink and white streamers for the wedding dinner which followed. Guests attended from Brantford, London, Mitchell, Lucknow, Seaforth, Lambeth and Clinton. The groom's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cook of Blyth attended the wedding. For the wedding trip to Ni- agara Falls Mrs. Cook wore a beige three-piece, double-knit, double-breasted suit with brown and white accessories. They will live in Blyth. Bluevale Mrs. Thomas Parker left Matron last week for a plane trip to Frankfurt, Germany, and will have a three weeks' visit with relatives there. Miss Jeanette Thompson visited Miss Judy Clark at Pal- merston at the week-end. Mrs. Arnold Lillow, Mary and Barbara spent Monday in. London and visited Mr. Flem- ing Black in St. Joseph's Hos- pital. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mann, Harvey and Connie, attended the wedding of Mrs. Mann's niece in Guelph, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gardiner. Euchre party at Currie's School WHITECHURCH--On Friday evening the Currie's School pro- gressive euchre party had six tables in play, The attendance was smaller than usual due to the stormy weather in that area.
