McMur- ray, of Listowel, visited friends in Bluevale last week. Centennial theme for WI meeting. 13ELMORE—The February Meeting of the Women's tute, with the topic "Citizen- ship and. Education", was held in the Institute Hall on Wednes- day afternoon of last week. Mrs. Alvin Mundell was the convener. The meeting Was held in the form of a birthday party, as February is the month of the 70th birthday of the Women's Institute. Several visitors were present. Special contests for centen- nial year were conducted by Mrs. Mundell. Miss Beth Mun- dell played a piano solo. The hall was specially decorated for centennial year by Mrs. Ma- belle Goldrich. A trio com- prised of Mrs. Glenn Appleby, Mrs. Bruce Darling and Mrs. Mundell sang a special number. The roll call was "a memen- rage 12 mm Wingharn Advance"Time', Max:Way. The opening hymn and prayer were followed by Scripture reading by Mrs. George Michie. While the offering was being received Mrs. White gave a reading. Mrs. William Coultes con- ducted the business. Minutes were read by Mrs. Jack Higgins the penny collection was re- ceived and visits to the sick and shut-ins recorded. Mrs. Coul- tes thanked the members for their help with the catering for a recent banquet. Mention was made of the Hobby Carnival to be held in May,. The Presby- terial at Wingham was announc- ed for February 21,, the speaker to be Rev. Gordon Hunter, Mrs. William Coultes and Mrs. Not.. Mrs. Murray Scott gave a condensed version of the chap- ter on "Growth of the Protestant Church in Canada" as the mis- sion study. The Bible study from God and His Purpose was taken by Mrs. Cliff Logan from the chapter, "We Depend on Power Beyond Ourselves". A large crowd attended the benefit dance, held on Friday night in the hall, for Mr. and Mrs, Graham Wright of Lakelet who recently lost their home by fire. Sympathy is extended to the Darling family, on the death of their mother, Mrs. Adam Dar- ling, of Carrick Township. Mrs. Darling passed away on Friday morning in Wingham and Dist- rict Hospital.
