Monday night while a few of the lesser lights came up with good scores, Little change took place as far as the standings are concerned and it is going to take in big effort to catch the top team before the schedule nuts out. Flap Swatridge was the top man, winning the men's high single with 310 and the triple with 798. Now your going strong, Hap, Things were pretty quiet on alleys 3 and 4 this week when. Stew's Prunes took 5 points off Elwood's Peaches. In fifth place are the Marigolds; their two points gave them a total of 44. The Daisies are still in the cellar. They took two points and now have a total of 37. Lion Gordon Edgar convened the event, which was well at- tended. Clubs represented were Boas- eels (1 rink), Exeter (2), God- erich (2), Harriston (2), Pal- merston (1), St. Jacobs (1), St. Marys (2), Wingham (1) and. HOwick (4), sixteen rinks in all. Bob Sproule's rink from God• erich, comprised of Howie Kuenzie, Pete Graf and Wave Nelson won the 9 o'clock draw with 3 wins and a full plus of 18, They also won the Howick Lions' Trophy. The second prize went to Jack McDonald's rink from Brus- sels, with 2 wins and a plus of 11; while Roy Holtom's rink from Harriston came third, with 2 wins and a plus of 8, and the consolation went to the Ham- mood rink of St. Marys. On the 1] o'clock draw San- dy Elliott's rink from Exeter won with 3 wins and a plus of 8, with Mel Gaiser, Elmer Bell and Milt Robbins as the other members of the team. Meals during the day were served by the members of the Listowel Ladies' Curling Club, Another bonspiel under the auspices of Ilowick Lions' Club will be held in Listowel some ,' time during March, Cubs Meet The Wingham Cubs met in the United Church last Thurs* day, All the boys from the Brown Six were absent so these Cubs had better make an extra effort next week to be at the meeting. Following the opening exer- cises arid roll call two interest- ing games were played with new tennis halls. The boys went into groups to continue their star work, Many of the boys have accomplished a great deal so far. The Yellow Six won the most points for the night, a to- tal of 18. The Green Six led in the closing Grand Howl, A fiery-tempered Southern businessman wrote the follow- ing letter: "Sir, my stenowph- er, being a lady, cannot type what I think of you. I, being a gentleman, cannot think it. You, being neither, will under- stand what I mean." BANTAMS Boy, this gang is getting hot. JUNIORS Singles of 21'7 and 204; pret- ty good bowling, eh? Well, Curling Club Activities A local ladies' two-game bonspiel was held at the Wing- ham Curling Club on Tuesday afternoon with eight rinks tak- ing part. Lunch was served between games and films were shown of Hawaii by Ella Gurney and Wil- ma Kerr, Winners of the 'spiel were Louise Iletherington's rink with Verne Galbraith, Nan McKib- bon and Joan Thompson. Sec- ond prize rink was skipped by Wilma Kerr with Anna Goodall, Mary Willows and Della Gramm. Several games for Fordwich teams FORDWICH—Several games of hockey were played by the local boys during the past week. On Tuesday night the Bantams journeyed over to Belgrave and were defeated 8-5. Wednesday night the Delmore midgets met Fordwich midgets in the Ford- wich Arena with the local boys winning by a score of 8 to 1. On Friday night the midgets again played host to Stone School and were again winners by the score of 2-1. Following this game the In- termediates played host to the Clifford team with the score Clifford 6 and Fordwich 2 and on Saturday afternoon the Ford- wich squirt team played in the local arena against Belmore squirts and were able to win their game 5 to 4. Broomball On Thursday night White- church defeated American lloe tel 2-1 in North Huron League broemball, Bill Robinson and Harold. Dawson scored for W.hitechurell and Keith Nichol son for American Hotel,.
