The initial pro- gram aroused such widespread demand for a repeat that CBC, with the Canadian Highway Safety Council's co-operation, decided to rebroadcast the com- plete program. A French-lang- uage version, initially broad- case June 21 will be repeated September 8, at 10 p.m. When The Canadian Drivers Test was originally broadcast a group of high school driver edu- cation graduates outscored a body of professional drivers. Both groups were in the studio. Viewers will be able to mark their test forms at home, then compare their scores with the studio audience. Prior to the May program, CBC conducted a survey of a cross-section of Canadian drivers. The nation- al average obtained will be shown for comparison. Vacation In Europe Capt. L. R. Eldridge, who had been in Viet Nam for a year, left there July 2nd and flew to Paris where he was met by his wife who had flown from Montreal.. They vacationed in Paris, England and the Isle of Wight for two weeks where they visited with relatives of Capt. Eldridge's. They flew to their home at Canadian Forces Base at Petawawa July 16th. Mrs. Eldridge's mother, Mrs. Blatchford, who took care of her grandchildren while the par- ents were vacationing in Eur- ope, returned to her home in Wingham July 19. Former Provincial Const. Presented About `7b friends of Ossie Whitfield, formerly with the Ontario Provincial Police de- tachment here, attended a so- cial evening at the local Ar- mouries last Wednesday eve- ning. Mr, and Mrs. McCormick left On Tues- day to visit with friends and relatives in Kitchener and Tor- onto for a couple of days, and will be with her parents, Mr.. 4 and Mrs. Clarence Chamney on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, before leaving for Los Angeles Sunday morning. HOT SUMMER DAYS are drawing children to the Kinsmen pool where they can find relief from the current hot spell.
