Mr, and Mrs. Russel Nichol returned borne last week after spending ten days In the United States. Mr. and Mrs. R, Devitt, Mr. and Mrs. R. Hibberd, Mr. Ken Graham and Rev. J. W. Hird attended the supper meeting of the Huron Presbyterial Rally of the United Church Men, held in Blyth United Church on Thurs- day. Rev. A. Johnson of Brus- sels was guest speaker. Discus- sion groups were formed. About 150 attended. Mrs. Russel Ruttan and Miss Marian Ruttan spent a day last week in London. Mrs. Stanley Bride attended the Guelph area executive eeting of the Women's Insti- tute at Guelph on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. George Ash- ton spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Art Wells, in London. Among those attending the London Conference United Church Women annual meeting at Wingham were Mrs. Harold Doig, Mrs. George Ashton, Mrs. Norman Harding, Mrs. Crosby Sothern and Mrs. Stan- ley Bride. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fores- ter spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Tomlin in Fort Erie and visited with Mr. Art Forester in Douglas Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Rona Browne who teaches school at Habermehl school, Hanover, was given a $500 raise this year and also re- ceived a $400 raise last year, which speaks very highly of her work there. She has bees teaching in Hanover four years, Mr. John Inglis, David and Stephen returned home Friday from Leasburg, Florida. Mrs. Inglis, who has been very ill, was unable to travel and is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Winston at Zephyerhills, Flori- da for two weeks. Miss Bonnie Inglis of Kitch- ener is visiting at the home of her parents for a few weeks. Mr, and Mrs. Fred Norris, local merchant who has been in business here the past three years, moved their household effects Monday to Brantford. They sold to Mr. and Mrs. H. Sullivan of Kitchener who took over Monday. Mr. Norris had to sell out for health reasons. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mills of Walton visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Crosby Sothern. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hib- berd spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Campbell in Winthrop. The afternoon unit of the Fordwich U.C.W. held a quilt- ing in the church basement last week. Six quilts were finished for the mission bale. A pot luck dinner was enjoyed, the non- quilters preparing the meal. Norman Harding, Stanley Bride and Harold Doig attended the open session on Tuesday night of last week in Wingham United Church when Rev. J. R. Hord, Secretary, Board of Evan- gelism and Social Service was guest speaker.
