The Bruins and nabs waged
a battle royal on alleys 1 and
2, The Ilabs won the first
game by a 5-pin margin and
the Bruins took the second
game by an 8 pin margin and
total pinfall by 3 pins (can't
get it much closer than that).

Our Shirley started off the
New Year bowling at my speed.
I am giving her the benefit of
the doubt by stating she just de-
cided to let someone else catch
up to her high single for the
season.
Eight regulars missing, and
we were only able to get one
spare. We must try to let our
president know earlier if we are
unable to bowl. We thank Bruce

Ruth Lott came up with the
high single of 256 and high
triple of 661, thus earning an
extra two points for her team.
Not to be outdone, Ernie Walk-
er also came up with the men's
high single of 313 and the high
triple of 743 to earn another
two points for the Ti-Cats. If
this team keeps it up, they
should get up among the top
three teams.

MEN'S TOWN LEAGUE
The high single for January
3rd, went to Ray Walker with
344, and Bill Edwards picked
up the high triple with 781,
Ken Saxton was right behind the
high triple with a 772.
The 1st Wingham Scout
Troop held its initial meeting
of the new year last Wednes-
day night with 19 Scouts and
three leaders present. Scout-
master Fridenburg took the
opening exercises and P. L.
Terry Deyell broke the flag.
This was followed by inspec-
tion by S. NI. Fridenburg and
A, S.Iv1, Russell.
A. S. M. Russell led a game
of 'Drop the Pin in the Bottle'
in which the Buffalo Patrol won.
The boys were then sent to their
BANTAM LEAGUE
The top two teams, the
Greens and Whites continued
their winning ways, both taking
full points. David Tiffin bowl-
ed a fine line of 161 as the
Whites downed the Reds. Larry
Simmons continued to be top
bowler in the league rolling
high single 186 and high double
270. For the girls Lori Hender-
son took full honors with 133
and 203.
JUNIOR LEAGUE
Ian Shepherd with games of
178 and 182 and David 13alser's
185 single were enough to en-
able the Leafs to blank the
Rangers 5 to 0. Steven Watson's
160 single also aided the Leaf
Hockey Season
Finally Underway
BELMORE—After many post-
ponements because of the spring
weather, Belmore's hockey
schedule finally got underway
on Friday evening of last week.
A double-header was held in
the local arena, with Fordwich
and Belmore Pee Wees battling
and the Kurtzville Bantams
'mean-mouthing' our lads.
Score of the first game and
the first Belmore win of the sea-
son was 8-6. Leading scorers
for Belmore Pee Wees were Al-
an Dickson with three goals and
Shane Goldrich with two. Paul
Heffer is goal-keeper.
In the second game, Bel-
more Bantams were badly de-
feated by a score of 7-0. Ah
well, a poor beginning makes
for a great finish, boys!
The Midgets, whose game
was cancelled on Friday eve-
ning, are scheduled to play this
Friday evening (14th) in Bel-
more, with the Kurtzville team,
The Pee Wees are set to play
at Belgrave on the 12th, and in
Gorrie on the 14th.

After a few closing reminders
the patrol standings were given,
and then the troop was dismiss-

A Court of Honour followed
the meeting, attended by the
patrol leaders and leaders.
Lose Three Games,
Last One Is Close
Lucknow and Wingham Pee
Wees played in Lucknow last
Wednesday evening. The score
was Lucknow 7, Wingham 2.
In the absence of Terry Ding-
man, the regular goalie, David
Lloyd had a chance to prove his
ability as goal keeper. This
was David's first time in goal.
On Saturday morning the
Wingham Pee Wees journeyed
to Mildmay where they were
defeated by their hosts 3-2.
On Monday evening in Wing-
ham, Ripley defeated Wing-
ham 7-6. It was a hard-fought
exciting game, keeping all 10
fans on their feet throughout.
The goal for Wingham in the
first period was by Doug Leitch
and for Ripley, Brian Boyle. In
the second period Bill Hilbert
scored for Wingham and Elliott,
Courtney and Gary Farrell each
scored for Ripley with two more
by Boyle. In the third
period Bob Sangster, Doug
Leitch, Tommy Lee and Randy
Hafennehl came through for
Wingham. For Ripley it was
Barry McDonald and Brian Boyle.
Brian Deyell with 172 single
and 310 double and Candice
Foxton with 259 double led the
13ruins while Don Shropshall
with 278 double was top flab
howler,
INTERMEDIATES
Ron Goy was in fine form as
he rolled games of 218 and 283
as the Poplars took 5 points from
the Walnuts. Don Collar bowl-
while Jim Henderson rolled 347
double in a losing cause for the
Walnuts, The Birches came up
with several fine lines as they
blanked the Pines, Newt Rich-
ardson's 224 single, Doug Mow-
bray's 253 single and 438
double and Don Rae's 221 single
and 401 double. Top bowler for
the Pines was Tom Miller with
205 single and 375 double.John
Phillips had the pins flying as
he rolled 241 single and 429
