to return home Friday from

GORRIE--The Christmas and
business meeting of Unit One
was held at the home of Mrs.
Elmer Farrish, which was taste-
fully decorated for Christmas.
Carol singing and a Christmas
program were enjoyed by the 15
ladies attending,
Mrs. Lorne Mann presented
the slate of officers for 1966:
Leader, Mrs. Robert Elschner;
assistant leader, Mrs. Robert
Strong; secretary, Mrs, T, L.
McInnes; treasurer, Mrs. Wes-
ley Trimble; flower and cheer,
Mrs. Elmer Farrish; pianist, Mrs.

All members received gifts
from a Secret Pal and drew
names for 1966. A Christmas
lunch was served and a social
hour spent. Boxes were packed
for the sick and shut-ins.

Bolander, Mr, Wm. Kemp and
Mr. Alfred Kemp of Listowel
visited Sunday with Mr. Fred
Cherry of Palmerston.

Hospital, following a heart at-
tack.

ner guests of the Hutton Trans-

Legion Auxiliary
Christmas Meeting
FORDWICH—The Howick
Legion Auxiliary met at the
home of Mrs. Alex Graham for
the December meeting. Re-
ports for the year were given by
the committees. A collection
of candy, cookies and Christ-
mas cake was received from the
members for veterans' boxes at
Westminster Hospital.
The mystery prize was won
by Mrs. Wm. McCann, donat-
ed by Mrs. Mabel Coulter. Two
specials donated by Mrs. Ross
Doig were won by Mrs. Ken Un-
derwood and Mrs. Jack Wilson.
An exchange of gifts from Sec-
ret Pals was made and new
names drawn for 1966. Mrs.
McCann gave a report on the
sports committee.

GORRIE—The Christmas
meeting of the United Church
Women was held Dec. 15, Mrs.
George Hamilton of Unit 2 pre-
sided for the worship period
with the theme, "The Road to
Bethlehem". Scripture readings
were interspersed with carol
singing and candles lighted to
represent Love, Light, Peace
and Hope.
A skit " Gifts that Money
Can't Buy" was presented by
Mrs. W. W. Strong, Mrs. Robt,
Hastie, Mrs. Cecil Grainger,
Mrs. John Strong, Mrs. Fred
Koster, Mrs. Geo. Hamilton
and Mrs. Ken Hastie.
Mrs. Russell Adams conduct-
ed business. Mrs. Harold Robin-
son presented the slate of of-

Vesper Service
Sunday Evening
GQRRJE—The Canadian Girls
in Training held their candle
lighting vesper service Sunday
evening with 20 girls raking
part,
They formed the choir and
sang an anthers, accompanied
by Miss Lynda Johnston. Miss
Larke Carson assisted at the pi-
ano. Susan Templeman and
Sharon Peel were the leaders in
the service with Marion Adams
lighting the candles, Joyce
Hamilton read the Scripture.
The church was decorated
with coloured lights, Christmas
garlands and a tree.
Rev, W, J. Hird expressed
appreciation to the girls and
leaders, Mrs, Robt. Edgar and
Mrs. Norman Fairies and pro-
nounced the benediction, The
girls went carol singing to shut-
ins and also packed boxes for
sick and shut-ins.
