Fund Drive
13Y BRIAN CASLICK
In mid-October the Stud-
ents' ':ouncil initiated its an-
nual fund raising; drive at W.
D.11. S.. Funds must be raised
to support our extra curricular
activities such as Camera Club,
Math Club, Glee Club, etc,
In past years magazine sub-
scriptions were sold but because
of the complicated book work
and inconveniences to the cus-
tomers due to slow delivery, it
was decided to sell chocolate
bars this year.
The campaign was introduc-
ed to the student body by Mr.
Ferguson of the Lynne Brook
Fund -Raising Plan and tate Stu-
dents' Council president, Jim
Nasmith. The students com-
menced the drive eagerly and
turned in close to $2,000 O00 on
the first collection day. Over
wt;, 00.) worth of bars were sold.
The salesmen, however,
were not without incentive.
Draws were held for people who
sold six and twelve bars,
Top salesman was Bill Kerr
who sold ltht bars; second was
Ilowie Wright who sold 1411 bars
and Sally Galbraith was third,
selling 124 bars.
We would like to thank the
citizens who purchased our
chocolate bars and we hope you
continue to support our drives.

YOU Are. the
Other Driver
Maybe you think it is the
.other driver who is piling up the
mounting statistics, Then re-
member, you are the other dri-
ver to everyone else, Don't you
be the cause of an accident,
Get your car in good driving
condition for winter weather.
Take stock of your driving at-
titude. Are you safety con-
scious or do you drive like a
maniac and insist on the right-
of-way? Tail -gating, passing
others when oncoming cars are
too close, crowding, driving too
fast for road and weather con-
ditions, driving erratically,
driving too slow in a high speed
zone, straddling the white line,
failing to signal change of dir-
ection, blinding oncoming dri-
vers with high beam headlights,
are some of the worst sins of
driving. Grief and regret are the
result.
Heed the warning "Don't
mix gasoline and alcohol” .Your
mental and physical abilities to
cope,with the effects of alcho-
hol may not be good enough to.
let you drive a cat. Why gam-
ble? Let someone else .do the
driving. Someone who has not
been drinking.
Take a rest break if you are
fatigued or drowsy and beware
of driving if you have just tak-
en drugs for illness,
