Christmas Home
Decorating Ideas
Making your home look like
a giant Christmas card is not
only a lot of fun for the whole
family, but something you can
be proud of all during the holi-
day season. Your lawn and
home, including the doorway,
windows, roof and porch, are
a broad canvas upon which you
can paint a Christmas greeting
with light and color.
How you do it is limited on-
ly by your ingenuity and pock-
etbook. But don't be carried
away with enthusiasm, start in
a small way, and build up your
decorating scheme gradually.
The decorated doorway is
the focal point of holiday hos-
pitality. Remember that after
it has been decorated and
shine a holiday floodlight on
the doorway so no detail will
be lost. Then the whole en-
trance to your home will say,
"Merry Christmas To You All".
Indoor decorations become
"alive" if made with colorful
Christmas lights. Many readily -
available materials, Christmas
lights, and your own ingenuity,
can make interesting, original
ornaments for your home. For
Christmas entertaining, color-
ful luminous ornaments on ta-
bles, buffets and fireplaces, or
as window decorations, bring
compliments galore to a proud
hostess.
The style of tree you select
and the manner in which you
light it are as personal as the
decoration of your home. Style
of decorating and lighting the
indoor Christmas tree has varied
down through the years, but
the traditional, natural ever-
green tree continues to be the
favorite. And the favorite dec-
oration continues to be multi-
colored Christmas lights, with
colored ornaments, icicles and
tinsel.
But Christmas trees have
taken on a modern look, tool
Christmas strings are now avail-
able with white sockets and
cords so that they will blend in
with trees that are flecked or
sprayed in soft pastel tints.
Many modernists prefer tree
lights of all one color, such as
all red lights on a pink or gold
tree. Some prefer to use no
Christmas lights at all on the
tree but instead to place a
holiday floodlight or two where
they will be concealed behind
a piece of furniture and direct-
ing the beams at the tree. In-
cidentally, floodlights come in
red, blue, yellow or green, as
well as plain white, They are
useful all year round for both
indoor and outdoor illumination.
Here's a new idea; Try ob-
taining a tree this year that is
sprayed in a soft pastel tint,
then obtain one or more of the
new white indoor Christmas
tree wiring packages with
twelve white sockets. Then
purchase the new Satin Glow
lights, which come in packages
of five, with red, green, white,
blue and yellow lights.

Tired of the noise, a skin -

couldn't wheel.
