Miss Marie Browne of Tor- onto was a week -end guest with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pet- er Browne. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lynn and family of Orillia spent the week -end at the home of Mrs. Dora Ridley. Mrs. henry Allen of Conn is spending a month at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Allan. Mr. and Mrs. George Bo - lander, John and Donald at- tended the funeral last week of the former's father, the late Phylip Bolander, which was held in Kincardine. Mr. Earl Ridley of L'Ambel, Northern Ontario, spent the week -end at his home here. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Frew at Preston. Mrs. Moore remained and will spend this week with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benin in Tillson- burg. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Potts of Burlington and \Ir. and Mrs. Carson Crowder of Peterbor- ough visited over the week -end and attended the Armstrong- Bester wedding on Saturday at Cargill. St. Anne's Guild Holds Meeting FORDWICII--The November meeting of St. Anne's Guild was held at the home of Mrs. Lynn Bunker. The meeting opened with prayer and a hymn. Dur- ing the study period, Mrs, Lois Simmons gave a reading," Love for God", and the Scripture les- son was read by Mrs. Curtis Jordan. Roll call, a verse with Re- membrance was answered by 15 members. Rev. Jenkins was present. Members handed in their ta- lent money for the year and Ruby Forster read a letter from Mrs. Attwell. Metnbers were asked to donate candy for the Little Helpers candy table at the W.A. bazaar Dec. 4; and anyone with clothing for the bale is asked to bring it in. The Christmas meeting will be held at the home of Mrs, Gladys Vittie, when members will remember their secret pals. Mrs. Helen Leppington had two interesting contests. After the election of officers Rev. Jen- kins closed the meeting with prayer, and lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Miss Ethna Foster. Bishop Confirms Eight Candidates FORDWICH—The rites of Holy Confirmation were given on Sunday morning in Trinity Anglican Church, Fordwich, by the Right Rev. H. F. Apple - yard, Bishop of Georgian Bay to eight candidates. Confirmed were ConnieJean Allen, Evelyn Anne Ferguson, Bonnie Lynn Elliott, Francis May, Lorna Browne, Douglas James Hargrave, Randy King and Peter Dinsmore. Married in Brantford FORDWICH-^Mums, Fernand candelabra decorated Welling- ton Memorial United Church in Brantford on November 13 for the wedding of Sheila Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon- ard Heather of Brantford and Leslie William Norris of Brant- ford, sort of Mr, and Mrs, Fred Norris of Fordwich. Rev. S. H. Soper of Brant- ford was the minister. The or- ganist was Mrs. G. 1i. Jenkins and the soloist was William Ac - land. Mr. Ileather gave his daugh- ter in marriage, She wore a floor -length gown of silk or- ganza over taffeta, styled with bouffant skirt and slight train. Lace appliques enhanced the gown. She carried red roses and mums. Her attendants, Miss Brenda Bridgewater, Miss Donna Norris and Mrs. Robert Gregory wore identical floor -length gowns of gold peau de soie with wedding ring headpieces and carried orange roses and gold mums. Ira Wilson was best man and the ushers were Richard Payne and Robert Gregory. • A reception was held at the Graham Bell Hotel. The bride's mother received in a cham- pagne beige brocade dress with brown accessories and corsage of bronze roses, The groom's mother chose a two-tone rose brocade dress with black ac- cessories and corsage of white baby mums, On the wedding trip to Ni- agara Falls the bride travelled in a two-piece teal blue bou- cle suit with black accessories. Baptized were Eleanor Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gibson, and Kevin James, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Doig, Guild Bazaar GORRIE--The bazaar and tea sponsored by the Evening Guild of St, Stephen's Church was well attended on Saturday af- ternoon. In charge of booths were Mrs. Olive May, Mrs. Verne Clark, Mrs, Harold King, Mrs. John Bennett, Mrs. Mac Newton and Mrs. Ed. David. Remembrance Is Theme of W.A. GORRJE—Mrs, Lulu Sander- son was hostess for the Novem- ber meeting of the W.A. of St, Stephen's Church on Friday af- ternoon. Remembrance waste theme for the roll call and Mrs, Wm. Austin gave thoughts on the subject saying, "We com- memorate our Savior's death and resurrection so we must not forget the legacy left us by those who fell in the two world wars, which is to take up the cause for which they fought, the bringing of peace." The president, Mrs. G. Un- derwood led in prayers and a meditation. Rev. H. D. Jen- kins read the Scripture. Mrs. Wm. Austin, Mrs, Ed- ward Newton and Mrs. R. T. Bennett were appointed as a nominating committee. A quiz on the Women's Auxiliary was conducted by Mrs. Norman Wade. Rev. Jenkins read from "The Golden Grove", a book written by Jeremy Taylor in the 17th century which was quite applic- able to the present times. He closed with prayer. A social time was enjoyed while the hostess served lunch.
