Plans Several Events
WHITECHURCH—Calvin-
Brick U.C.W. met Wednesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Sidney Thompson with 14 la-
dies in attendance. The call
to worship was given by Mrs.
Gordon McBurney along with
the poem, "Interested Medita-
tion". A hymn was sung and
the Scripture was read by Mrs.
John Jamieson who also gave
the meditation, "Go Ye".
Mrs. Arthur Jackson explain'
ed how to tell the story of
Christmas in primary and jun-
ior grades according to the new
curriculum. Mrs. Roy Pattison
led in prayer.
Little Lori Thompson re-
ceived the offering which was
dedicated by Mrs. Gordon Mc-
Burney. Mrs. Peter Chandler
gave an account of religion's
new rhythm, now used in Queer
Street United Church, Toronto.
Mrs. Gordon McBurney con-
ducted the bible quiz. Mrs.
Gilbert Beecroft presided for
the business. The minutes
were read by Mrs. John Jamie-
son.
The congregation crokinole
and auction sale will be held
December 3 at Currie's School.
Each convener is to remind her
group to take articles for the
sale. There will be no door
charge.
The special Christmas offer-
ing is to be in by Nov. 30 to
buy gifts for three Christmas
stockings for Ontario Hospital
patients at Goderich. The date
for the Sunday School concert
is December 20th at 8.30. The
nominatingcommittee will re"
port at the next meeting, bee,

that the Conference of Women
will be held in Wingham the
last three days of March, 1966
and Calvin -Brick and Belgrave
are asked to prepare one meal.

day the Messengers held their
meeting in the Sunday School
room during the afternoon ser-
vice. The president, John
Gibb opened the meeting. The
Scripture, Psalm 100, wasread
in unison. Charles Thompson
led in prayer. John Gibb gave
a reading. Brenda Soloman re-
eeived the offering which was
dedicated by Linda Purdon.
The roll call was answered
by 16. The minutes were read
by Charles Thompson. It was
reported by the treasurer that

vitation to meet with the Pres-
byterian C.O.C. on Saturday
evening, Nov. 21, at 7.30 in
the Sunday School room of the
Ptesbyterian Church. Parents
and friends are invited. Pic-
tures wilt be shown.
The seniots with their lead-
er, Mts. Clarence Ritchie,
studied a chapter in the book,
"They Live Their Wye" and th
juniors with Margaret Moore
studied a chapter in their book.

meeting ef the Women's Insti-
tute was held in the comma*
ity venue with Mrs. Stanley
Cook in charge. A special col-
leetion was taken at the meet-,
ing and $10.00 was sent to. the
Children's Aid Society along
with several pair of mittens,
books and socks. Donations of
gifts were received for patients
at the Ontario Hospital who
have no family to look after
them.
Mrs, George Michie was
eonvener of the public relations
program. The theme "Breathes
there a man with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said.

The roll call was answered with
a home improvement for the
Centennial.
Mrs. Toynbee Lamb, dis-
trict president, was guest speak-
er. She explained that Bel -
grave and Wingham Institutes
will be expected to have a dis-
play of crafts for one day of the
Ploughing Match in 1966. She
then showed rnuch of the work
she has done as a result of tak-
ing courses sponsored by the
Institute, such as block print-
ing on place mats, quilting on
a chair pad, several aluminum
trays, mosaic work, and rugs.
Mrs. George Michie led in
community singing, Mrs. Van
Edgmond, teacher of occupa-
tional therapy at the Ontario
Hospital showed several arti-
cles made by patients, either
for sale or for their own use.
These included liquid embroi-
dery on pillow slips and on a
child's quilt, rag rugs made on
a loom, fur fabric slippers,
Christmas decorations, cer-
amics, and many knitted arti-
cles.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Ivan Wightman, Mrs. Walter
Scott and Mrs. Stanley Black.

WHITECHURCH—Calvin-
Brick Messengers held their No-
vember meeting in the church
after church service, under the
leadership of Miss Margaret
Pattison, Miss Lynda Coultes
was pianist.
The Scripture was read by
Miss Joyce Taylor. Miss Cathy
Chandler led in prayer. Jane
Shiell and Doreen Taylor re-
ceived the offering with Marg-
aret Pattison giving the dedi-
catory prayer. The Herald re-
port was given by Barbara Pat-
tison.
Mrs. Lawrence Taylor gave
the story of Marion Anderson.
Jim Beecroft gave a poem, "Af-
rica". All then went to classes
for their study books.

Newton visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Hall on Sunday.

Attends Assembly
A capacity crowd of 00 per,
sons listened to Clare Btatton,
district supervisor for Jehovah's
Witnesses as he spoke on"What
does the resurrection of the
dead mean to you and yours?"
in the Saugeen District High
School, Port Elgin on Sunday.
This was the main feature of
the Circuit assembly held there.
Mr. Stetson said, "We are liv-
ing in a world of atheistic
thinking when people are more
prone to accept the ideas of
man than the word of God astq
the hope of the resurrection."
Another important feature
of the assembly took place on
Saturday with the baptism ser-
vice, when four persons were
baptized,
