Memories to WI Members
WROCETER--The November
Meeting, under Education and
Citizenship, of the Women's
Institute was held at the home
of Mrs. Leslie Douglas with a
good attendance, Mrs. Wm.
Wright presided and opened the
meeting with a timely thought
for the day. She welcomed
those present and commented
on October being a busy month
for the Institute.
Mrs. H. Timm gave excel-
lent thoughts on the motto,
"One who ceases to learn ceases
to live". Mrs. Leslie Douglas
and Mrs. Ira McLean asked
each member to read part of a
poem or reading from the old
school readers, The oldest
reader was printed in 1885 and
one reader cost only six cents.
The roll call, "A donation
for Christmas cheer boxes and
a penny for each inch of your
shoe", brought a good response,
Those not in attendance may
leave their donation at the
home of Mrs. Wm. Wright.
Volunteers for the Good
Cheer Committee are Mrs. Wm.
W.I. Euchre
WROXETER-Oliver Riley,
playing as a lady, captured
first prize at the Women's In-
stitute euchre party, with Geo.
Hamilton taking first in the
men's division. Second prize
winners were Mrs. Allan Mc-
Kercher and Ted Smith. Mrs.
Harvey Reidt won the special
bingo.
There were nine tables in
play at the party.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Ross,
Eric and Cameron spent the
week -end with Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas McQueen in Scarbor-
ough.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross attended
the retirement party for Mr. T.
A. Armstrong, former railway
agent at Parkdale.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wath-
ke and Alex of Desboro visited
on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Robertson and family.
The Bluevale Women's In-
stitute held a successful sale of
home baking in the Oddfellow's
Hall, Wingham, on Friday,
where everything was sold. The
proceeds will be used to im-
prove the kitchen in the com-
munity hall.
Rev. G. C. Mitchell and
Mrs. Mitchell visited in Sarnia
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Bowie,
of Kitchener, visited Mr. and
Mrs. R. J. McMurray last week.
Bob Bitton, of Chatham,
spent the week -end with Harvey.

Board Decides
On Oil Furnace
BLUEVALE-M a recent
meeting, the Bluevale Com-
munity Hall Board decided to
install an oil furnace in the hall.
The" present coal and wood
furnace has not been satisfac-
tory for a long time and is in
need of expensive repair.
A committee, Bill Dettman,
Bill Peacock and Alex Corrigan
are in charge of purchasing the
furnace, Dances will be held
to help finance the expense,
• Everyone using the hall will
appreciate the new heating sys-
tem.

Helens W.I. enjoyed a tour of
CKNX on Thursday and were
treated to coffee in the cafe-
teria. Later the ladies held
their meeting at Danny's Rest-
aurant and enjoyed lunch at the
conclusion,

At Goderich Home
DONNYBROOK -The No-
vember meeting of the U.C.W.
was held Tuesday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. Edward Rob-_
inson. Mrs. Margaret Leddy
gave the call to worship and
led in prayer, A hymn was sung
and Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson con-
ducted the business.
An invitation had been re-
ceived and was accepted to
•have the next meeting at the
home of Misses Gladys and
Irene Jefferson of Goderich on
December 1. There is also to
be a special tea. Mrs. Stuart
Chamney read the minutes and
Gregory Wilson received the
offering. Mrs. Ernest Snowden
read the Scripture. Mrs. Sam
Thompson conducted the de-
votional period of prayer and
meditation.
Mrs. Norman Wightman of
Auburn, who had been a dele-
gate to Alma College, gave a
good report on her stay there.
Mrs. Murray Wilson took charge
of the study book.
Mrs. Thompson closed the
meeting with the benediction
and lunch was served by the
hostess, assisted by Mrs. Hil-
liard Jefferson and Mrs. Stuart
Chamney.

WROXETER-The Bouncing
Bobbins met at the home of
their leader, Mrs. Wm. Wright.
Roll call was answered with a
sample of material being used
for the sewing project, naming
the garment being made and
telling what type of seam would
be suitable for the material.
They learned how to make
bias and cord piping, instruct-
ed by their assistant leader,
Mrs. Andy Gibson. Margaret
Wright repeated the pledge and
the minutes were read by Leone
Chambers.

daughter, Debbie Coultes,
back to her home at Dresden
after her visit with them last
week.

Bazaar's Success
LAKELET-*The November
meeting of McIntosh United
Church Women, combined with
their annual bazaar and baking
sale, took place at the church
last Wednesday.
Opening devotions included
a hymn and Psalm 46 as Scrip-
ture reading. Meditation en-
titled, "Perfect Trust and Per-
fect Peace" was given by Mrs..
Alan Darling.
A Remembrance Day mes-
sage with a moment of silence
was presented by Mrs. James
Renwick. Prayer concluded the
worship service
The president, Mrs. Jack
Inglis, then conducted the bus-
iness during which it was de-
cided to serve lunch to Howick
Legion members after the me-
morial service at McIntosh,
November 14.
Plans are being made to
have Miss Webb, a missionary
on furlough from Nigeria, speak
here at a date to be announced
later.
The meeting was closed
with prayer by the president,
followed by the bazaar and bait,.

LAKELET-The Water Well
Drilling Company of Lakelet
has just completed a seven inch
325 foot well at the site of the
new Mildmay -Carrick Central
School. It has a production of
about sixty gallons per minute,
This company is now drilling
at a location near Brampton.
