Topic on Vietnam
WHITECHURCH—The Young
People's Society met in the
United Church Sunday School
room last week. The minutes
were read by Diane Coultes.
The roll call was answered by
14 members.
The next meeting will be
held November 30th at the
home of Rev. and Mrs. George
Mitchell of Bluevale.
The meeting was turned ov-
er to Muriel Conn and Linda
Martin. A hymn was sung. Miss
Conn read several Bible verses
while members tried to spot a
certain word in each verse.
Miss Martin gave a prayer for
peace and read a story called,
"Americans' Involvement in
South Vietnam". A discussion
was held on this topic. Muriel
Conn read a hymn and gave a
peace prayer.
CAR IN COLLISION
WITH CATTLE BEAST

who were week -end visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Gaunt were in collision with a
cattle beast on the Division
Line enroute to the Gaunt home.
No one was hurt in the mishap.

Pot Luck Supper
At Langside
WHITECHURCH—A large
crowd gathered at Langside
Presbyterian Church on Friday
evening for the annual pot luck
supper, sponsored by the Ladies'
Aid. The Sunday School put
on the program.
The Sunday School superin-
tendent, Elmer Scott, was
chairman and Mrs. Bregman
presided at the organ. The four
junior classes each contributed
a number. Carolyn McGill -
vary of the senior class con-
tributed an organ solo and Mur-
ray Moffat an accordion solo.
Mr. Donald Watt, student
preacher, showed slides of Kin -
eolith, B.C., where he taught
Nishga Indian pupils.

Hi -C Group Sells
Church Calendars
BELGRAVE--The Hi -C
Group met for their regular
meeting on Sunday in the
church school rooms and open-
ed with a sing -song led by Luuk
Meulwyk, Joan Bosman andJim
Robertson. The minutes were
read by Marilyn Taylor and
Dave Beecroft gave the treasur-
er's report.
Mr. Jackson explained to
the boys about the voting for
the Older Boys' Parliament.
Dave Beecroft reported on C.Y.
C.C. which he and Ivan Wheel-
er, Don Vincent and Brian Hop-
per attended.
Gordon Campbell was in
charge of the worship and Scrip-
ture was read by David Bosman.
The offering was received by
Donald Vincent and Murray Virr
cent. A hymn was sung and
Dave Bosman led in prayer.
Gordon Campbell led the dis-
cussion and Murray Vincent was
in charge of recreation. The
United Church calendars were
distributed to the members for
sale,
Mrs. A. Armstrong
Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Annabelle Armstrong,
82, of Brussels died Monday,
October 25th in Wingham and
District Hospital after a long
illness.
A life-long resident of the
Brussels district, she was born
in Grey Township, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
McKinnon. Following her mar-
riage to the late Alex Arm-
strong, they farmed in Grey un-
til his death, when she made
her home in Brussels. She was
an active member of the Brus-
sels United Church.
Mrs. Armstrong is survived
by two brothers, Robert of Blue -
vale and Cecil of Toronto.
The funeral was held from
the D. A. Rann funeral home
on Wednesday afternoon, with
service conducted by Rev. Al-
lan Johnston of the United
Church. Pallbearers were Jas.
McFarlane, James, Turnbull,
Mack Cardiff, Charles McGav-
in, Merino Jackson, Louis Frain.
Burial was in Brussels Cemetery.

!Killed in B.C.
WHITECHURCH—Word has
been received here of the death
of James Hector Markle, 49,
who was killed in British Col-
umbia when a log rolled on
him. The funeral was on Oc-
tober 25.
Mr. Markle was the son of
Mrs. George Markle, the for-
mer Cassie MacKay. They liv-
ed in Saskatchewan until 15
years ago, when they moved to
Duncan, B.C.
BELGRAVE
The public relations meet-
ing of the Belgrave Women's
Institute will be held on Tues-
day at 2:15 in the afternoon.
Mrs. George Michie is the con-
vener. Roll call, "A home pro-
ject for Centennial Year". The
address will be given by Mrs.
Toynbee Lamb, district presi-
dent. There will be a display
of crafts. Lunch committee,
Mrs. S. Black, Mrs. I. Wight -
man and Mrs. W. Scott.
Mrs. Gerald Vandeburg of
Toronto visited with Mr. and
Mrs. James Coultes and family
for the week -end, and with
other relatives in the commun-
ity.
The bazaar for the Anglican
Church which was to be held
Saturday was postponed for a
week due to a death in the
community.
Evening Unit at
Stonehouse Home
BELGRAVE—Mrs. Lewis
Stonehouse was hostess for the
November meeting of the Eve-
ning Unit of the U.C.W. on
Thursday. Mrs. Ross Anderson
opened the meeting with a hymn
followed by Scripture read by
Mrs. Arthur Jackson. Mrs. An-
derson led in prayer, and medi-
tation.
Mrs. Jack Taylor was in
charge of the mission study on
Brazil and was assisted by Mrs.
Alan Dunbar, Mrs. Murray Scott
and Mrs. James Coultes. Mrs.
George Michie conducted the
Bible study.
Minutes were read by Mrs.
fames Lamont and penny col-
lection was received. Mrs. Ar-
thur Jackson gave a few high-
lights of the regional meeting
held at Fordwich. Mrs. Albert
Bieman closed with prayer.
Contests were conducted by
Mrs. George Michie and Mrs.
Stan Hopper's group served
lunch. Mrs. James Coultes will
le hostess for the Christmas
meeting.
Weekly Euchre
BELGRAVE—The weekly eu-
chre was held in the commun-
ity centre on Wednesday eve-
ning with seven tables in play.
High lady was Mrs. Robert Pur-
don; high man, George Grigg;
Novelty lady (2nd highest),
Mrs. Mark Armstrong; novelty
man, George Mitchell; low la-
dy, Mrs. Gershom Johnston;
low man, Bert Thompson.
40th ,Anniversary
WHIT!<CHURCI-1-On Satur-
day evening Mr. and Mrs. Ro-
bert Stewart were invited to the
home of their son, Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Stewart and fam-
ily of Teeswater. On their ar-
rival they were surprised to
find their relatives had assembl-
ed to celebrate with them on
the occasion of their 40th wed-
ding anniversary.
The evening was spent play-
ing euchre, bingo and games
for the younger children.
Miss Linda Martin read an
address and Wayne Martin and
Billie Moffat presented Mr. and
Mrs. Stewart with a rocker.
The recipients expressed their
thanks.
Lunch was served, including
the beautifully decorated wed-
ding cake which had been on
display during the evening.
Euchre Party at
Currie's School
WHITECHURCH--A progres-
sive euchre party was held Fri-
day evening at Currie's school
with ten tables participating.
Prizes were won by high lady,
Mrs. Stanley Marks and Mrs.
Allan McBurney, tied with Mrs.
Marks winning the draw; low
lady, Mrs, Jim Currie; high
man, Stewart McBurney; low,
Duane Currie. Mystery prizes
went to Mrs. Alex Leaver and
Charles Shiell.
The hosts and hostesses were
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Scott. Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Congram serv-
ed lunch, The next party will
be held November 19. While
the euchre party is in progress
those too young to play enjoy
themselves at games in the
;basement.
