Mrs. Bill Evans spent a few
days last week with members of
her family in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ritchie
were in Kincardine to pay re-
spects at the funeral home to
the family of the late Bill Cul-
bert. Mr. Culbert was a neigh-
bor of Mr. Ritchie when he liv-
ed near Ripley.

in the passing of their grand-
mother, Mrs. Dan King of
First Euchre Is
Held at Currie's
W HITECHURCH-Currie's
school on Friday evening saw
the first of the series of pro-
gressive euchre games with 11
tables in play. The sponsors of
this party were Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Coultes and Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Coultes.
Those winning prizes were:
high lady, Mrs. Jim Currie;low
lady, .Mrs. John L. Currie; tra-
velling prize for lady, Mrs.
Jim Currie, who gave this prize
to the second high, Mrs. Nor-
man Coultes, as the former had
won two prizes; high gent, Jim
Currie; low gent, Roy Pattison;
travelling prize, Harold Cong-
ram.
Lunch was served by the
sponsors. The next party will
be held Friday evening when
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Congram
and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Scott
will be hosts and hostesses.
Crowston Family
Has Owned Farm
For 92 Years
WI:IITECHURCH--John Crow-
ston of Langside had a fairly
successful auction sale of farm
stock and machinery last Tues-
day. The farm has been sold
to a buyer from Ailsa Craig.
Home for the sale were Mr.
and Mrs. Mario Crowston and
family of Kincardine, Mr. and
Mrs. Clayton Alton and family,
Ashfield, Mr. and Mrs. Orland
Irwin and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Ivan Laidlaw and Janet of
Whitechurch. Mr. Crowston
has possession of the farm till
July 1st.
This farm was taken from
the Crown by John Crowston on
Sept. 2.4th, 1873. He was the
great-grandfather of the pre-
sent owner. The land was
cleared in the usual pioneer
way. The log barn and house
were built. When the late John
Crowston ceased to be able to
work the farm his son Newton
and Mrs, Crowston and family
came from Tacoma, Washing-
ton, to assist with the farming
operation. The family of the
late Mr. and Mrs. John Crow-
ston consisted of Charles, An-
nie and Newton. Mr. and
Mrs. Newton Crowston's fam-
ily were Earl (deceased), flora
(Nits, Bill Emmerton) Kincar-
dine, Cecelia (lits. Wm. Ken-
nedy), Wingham and John, the
present owner. This farms has
been in the Crowston name for
02. years.
Teeswater, in Wingham and
District Hospital. The funeral
was held on Friday to Teeswa-
ter cemetery, Misses Berna-
dette and Patricia King of Tor-
onto and Brian King of Grand
Valley were present for their
grandmother's funeral as well
as their father, Mr. J. C, King
of Toronto. All visited during
the week -end with Mr, and
Mrs. Walter Arscott.
Mrs, George McKague of
Teeswater visited on Sunday
with Mr, and Mrs. James Mc-
Innes.
Mr. Dan Cassidy is spending
a few days with relatives at
Tillsonburg.
Mrs. Grubbe and Brenda of
Bluevale were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ar-
scott.
On Sunday at Chalmers Pres-
byterian Church, Rev. Gordon
Fish christened Edward Charles,
son of Mr. and Mrs. John De -
Boer, and Michael Alexander,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jan-
sen.
Visitors on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. CarmanWhytockwere
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker of
Formosa vicinity, and her sis-
ter, Miss Bonnie Parker of
Paisley.
Jim Taylor and Harold Daw-
son arrived home on Friday from
the Western provinces, where
they have been assisting with
farm operations.
Thursday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Russel Gaunt were Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Ribey and
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnston of
Paisley.
Mrs. Claude Coffin andJohn
were callers at their home in
the village on Saturday. Mrs.
Coffin is moving into an apart-
ment and was getting some
things from the house for the
apartment.
Mr, Ken Paterson was ad-
mitted to Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital early Sunday
morning.
The bus going to Grey -Bruce
Area convention at Owen Sound
on Nov. 16 will leave Lucknow
at 7,45 a.m. and proceed
north through Holyrood, Kin -
lough, Kinloss, Bervie and Kin-
cardine and to Owen Sound via
No. 21 Highway.

grandmother, Mrs. Gordon El-
liott of Wingham.

Mr. and Mrs. John Murray

week -end visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Tiffin.

nesday attended a meeting in
Kitchener for library personnel.

of Lucknow and Mrs. Dan Tif-
fin, attended the funeral of
their uncle, Fred Thompson of
Toronto, on Tuesday. They
were accompanied to the city
by Mrs. Russel Chapman who
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Smith and family.

Conn attended the Masonic
Banquet held in Lucknow Wed-
nesday evening.
The U.C.W. will hold the
regular meeting on November
10th instead of the usual day,
at the home of Mrs. Dan Tif-
fin. The Presbyterian W.M.S.
is changing its day from Nov-
ember 17 to November 11 be-
cause of the Grey -Bruce area
W.I. convention. This meet-
ing will be held at the home of
Mrs. Russel Ross,
