Mc- Kinney united in marriage Alice Pauline Dickison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C, Dicki' •son of Teeswater and James Lloyd Needham, R. R. 5, Kin- cardine, son of Mr. and Mrs, Harry Needham. Mrs. R. H. King was organ- ist and Gordon Dickison of Til- lsonburg sang "0 Perfect Love". * Mr. Dickison gave his daughter in marriage, She wore a white peau de soie gown trimmed with bows and lace and her elbow -length veil was held by a pearl crown. She car- ried white carnations with • streamers. Maid of honor, Miss Marion Ruttan of Teeswater and brides- maids, Marjorie Ruttan of Gor- rie and Anne Ross of London wore identical floor -length gowns of jade blue peau de soie • with wedding ring hats and blue net gloves. The flower girls, Susan Dickison of Tillsonburg and Mary Louise Ruttan of Gorrie were attired in white street - length dresses of peau de soie with jade blue sashes and bows. All the attendants carried pink carnations. The groomsman was Lloyd Eskrick, R.R. 5, Kincardine and the ushers were Hugh Lane of Holyrood and Donald Ruttan, • Gorrie. The reception was held at Danny's Restaurant. The bride's mother chose a turquoise blue brocaded two-piece dress with gold and black accessories. Her corsage was white carnations. • The groom's mother wore a royal blue brocaded dress with blue and black accessories and a pink carnation corsage. For the wedding trip to Wes- tern Canada and the United States Mrs. Needham wore a ' charcoal suit with red and black accessories and a corsage of white carnations, They will live on the groom's farm, R.R. 5, Kincardine. Prior to her wedding a mis- e cellaneous shower was held at the home of Mrs. John Mac- Donald, Teeswater when 35 guests attended. The hostesses • • • • 4. were Mrs. Wallace Pfaff, Mrs. Clayton Willis and Mrs. Tom Farrell. Relatives held a miscellan- eous shower at the home of Mrs,. Jack Colvin in Teeswater with 40 people in attendance. About 25 friends gathered at the home of Mrs, Earl Heywood and presented the bride -elect with a chair and a lamp. Mrs. Mel Craig Presides for UCW BLUEVALE—Mrs. Mel. Craig presided at the general meet- ing of the U.C.W. in the Unit- ed Church on Thursday. The Thankoffering meeting was well attended. Unit Three provided the study program with Mrs. G.C. Mitchell in charge. Mrs. Mit- chell gave a Thanksgiving story and readings were given by Mrs. Alex. McCrackin and Mrs. M. L. Aitken on the Thanksgiving theme. Mrs. George Hethering- ton described conditions and the missionary efforts in crowded Hong Kong. Business was conducted by Mrs. Craig and the treasurer's satisfactory report given by Mrs. James Johnston. Plans were made for attendance at the Presbyterial, to be held at Fordwich on October 19th. Decorations in the manse were planned and a bazaar to be held later in the month. C.W.L. Meeting The monthly meeting of the Catholic Women's League was held on Tuesday of last week in the parish hall with 23 mem- bers present. Fr. J. Mooney spoke to the group regarding the need for parents to exercise their God- given authority towards their children and of the order and peace which ensues when auth- ority is properly used. Guest speaker, Gerry Bel- anger, demonstrated some of the common methods of adjust- ing TV sets and pointed out the do's and don't for good TV viewing. --Thanksgiving Visitors -- -Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw- thorne, Susan and Steven of Willowdale returned home Wed- nesday after spending the past week with her mother, Mrs. Hugh Carmichael. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Hopper of Detroit spent last week at the same home and with other relatives. — Mrs. Bruce MacDonald has been hired as music supervisor in the Brussels Public School. —Mr. and Mrs. James Scott Jr. and family of Blyth visited with Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Mac- Donald on Sunday, —Mr. and Mrs. Norman Keating spent Thanksgiving Sun- day with Mrs. J. Mrs. Bill Robertson opened the meeting with devotions and welcomed the guests. Mrs. H. Grant, supply sec- retary reported she had the sup- ply bale ready to be delivered, The next meeting is to be held Name Delegates To FaII Rally BELGRAVE—The Afternoon Unit of the United Church Wo- men met in the church school rooms on Wednesday with 13 members present. The meeting opened with a hymn. Minutes of the previous meeting and correspondence were read by secretary, Mrs. Ross Robinson. Mrs. Helen Mar tin gave the treasurer's report and visits to the sick and shut- ins were recorded. Offering and penny collection were received. Mrs. J. M. Coultes and Mrs. Ross Robinson were appointed delegates to attend the Fall Rally in Fordwich on October 19. Mrs. James Michie took the worship period on Thanksgiving. Mrs, Herson Irwin had charge of the study book on Brazil, the chapter entitled "The 20th Cen- tury Missionary" . Several mem- bers participated by reading from the first chapter of the Bi- ble study book "Jesus Christ and the Christian Life" . A question and answer period followed. WROXETER Thanksgiving guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Haugh were Mr. and Mrs. Ar- nold Noble, Wayne and Paul of Maryhill and Mr. and Mrs. Car- man Nixon, Grant and Lori of London at the home of Mrs. Bill Rob- ertson with Mrs. Glenn Golley and Mrs. Joe Wacker in charge. The sectional meeting is to be held in Ethel on Oct, 21 at 2 p. m. Mrs. Burns Moffatt read the scripture, followed by prayer by Mrs. Bernard Thomas. Mrs. Sadie Johnston of Lucknow gave a very interesting reading, "Count Your Blessings". The roll call was answered by 17 ladies with a thought about For- mosa ormosa or an item of interest concerning the guest speaker. Mrs, R. J. McMurray intro- duced the speaker, Miss Doug- las of Lucknow, a recently re- turned missionary from Formosa. Miss Douglas first went to the island 37 years ago and has seen vast changes and improve- ments. Her chief work has been teaching in a high school where 1400 students are enrolled. Ac- tivities were curtailed or stag- gered because of crowded con- ditions but with sacrifice, work and prayer, they have a school nearly completed to accommo- date the activities all at one time. Religious instruction is given in this school and the chapel is always filled for ser- vices although they are not compelled to attend. Miss Douglas took keen in- terest in women's work and al- ways tried to attend their meet- ings, giving helpful suggestions and leadership. Formosa this year celebrat- ed 100 years of Christian Wit- ness and it certainly was a high- light for the Christian people of Formosa. Miss Douglas asked for prayers for missionaries and the Formosa teachers and pas- tors who are laboring so faith- fully to spread the gospel. Mrs. Keith Moffatt thanked the guest and gave her a small token of appreciation. Mrs. W. Willits, of the United Church rendered a beau- tiful solo, accompanied by Mrs. G. Mitchell.
