Miss Anne Lindsay is visit- ing this week with Miss Ruth Johnston, Mr. and Mrs, Larry Mania - and little daughter visited recently with relatives at Peter boyo, Miss Pat Harris of Oshawa visited over the week -end with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Clare Harris. James Vittie, Fraser Lynn and Carl Ettinger attended the Royal Canadian Legion Rally held Sunday in Seaforth. Week -end guests with Mr, and Mrs. Anson Demerling were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Goldrich and Grant of London. Sunday visitors with Mr, and Mrs, Tom MCClement were Mrs. Ida Gallagher, Mr. and Mrs, Glenn MCClement and family of Listowel,Mrs,Blanche Fiegel of Kitchener and Mr, and Mrs. Ron MCClement, Misses Janey and Jamie Durst of Bay Ridges returned home last week after spending two weeks with their grandpar- ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Mb- ton. Presentation FORDWICH--'A presentation and dance was held in the com- munity hall Friday night for Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McClernent, Mrs. McClemenr is the former Margaret Ann Wilson. They were presented with a chair and a purse of money. Miss Karen Carswell read the address, Ken Schaefer's Or- chestra provided music for danc- ing. NOW! Meets BELMORE— Mrs. Rowland Ballagh was hostess for the Sep- tember meeting of the United Church Women. The worship service was arranged by Mrs. Earl Fitch. Miss Lavonne Bal- lagh sang a solo. The study books on "Trinidad" and "As Asia Goes" were presented by Mrs. Harry Mulvey and Mrs. Alex Sangster. During the business session the president, Mrs. Wilfred Jo- hann conducted the roll call, "Something for which we give thanks" and the minutes were read by Mrs. Joe Simmons. Plans were made to cater to a wedding in early November and a committee was appoint- ed to look after the details. Lakelet P.J.s Start Project LAKELET-- The first meeting of the Lakelet 2, 4-H home- making club project, "Sleeping Garments" was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Walter Demerling. Eight mem- bers and their mothers were present. The meeting opened with the pledge, followed by the election of officers which re- sulted as follows: President, Miss Diane Wylie; secretary and press reporter, Miss Gladys Huth. 1The Lakelet P.J.s was chosen las the club name. f What is required in each kr. ember's sewing box was dis- cussed. Miss Carol Anne Hohn - stein demonstrated the proper thods of taking body mea- surements with Marian Douglas as a model and members were 'nstructed how to make hand - sewn buttonholes. HOSPITALITY BELLES WHITECHURCH—The Hos- pitality Belles met at the home of Mrs. Garnet Farrier on Tues- day evening of last week. Val- erie King opened the meeting and roll call was answered by seven members telling why they like to entertain. The minutes were read by Marlene Webber. A discussion followed when the girls gave ideas for parties, Instruction was given on writing invitations and ideas were for- warded for decorating and en- tertainment. Making a table centre for a special occasion was demonstrated with mums and petunias. The girls learned proper in- troductions during group work. Mr. and Mrs, George Rich-, ardson and Judy of Toronto spec► the week -end with .Mrs, Marg- aret Willits, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burk, Port McNichol, spent the week at the same home, Miss Dianne Thompson is a patient in Winghatxt & District Hospital, with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs, Wilfred Brown, Detroit, spent the week -end with Mrs. Luella Sanderson and Mr, Bd, Gilmar. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Pyke spent the week -end at Kincar- dine. Mr. and Mrs, Percy Sparling of Sault Ste. Marie, visited relatives in the community over the week -end and attended the Howick Fair. Mr. Harvey Sparling receiv- ed word of the death of his sister-in-law, Mrs. A. E.(Bert) Sparling, Vancouver, in her 86th year. She was the former Harriet Wilkin, Sarnia. Her husband survives. Burial was in Vancouver, October 5th. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Brown of Beamsville and Mrs. Lionel Nichol, Hamilton, attended the Gorrie Fair on Saturday and visited Mrs. Ewart Whitfield. Mr. and Mrs. George Gregg, Willowdale, visited friends Sat- urday. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rats - beck, Toronto, spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. e WY li. Harrison recently returned from visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison of Edmonton. The Gorrie Presbyterian Church anniversary service will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Harry Waite, B.A., B.D. of Atwood will be the guest min- ister. Fina Service, Babies Baptized GORRIE—Rev. Fred W. Tay- lor received into the church by baptism the following infants: Philip Wynn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gowdy and James William, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Latronica at the Sunday morning service in the United Church. This was Rev. Taylor's fare- well service prior to leaving this week for his new charge at lerseyville. THANK YOU!
